“Well, today, I'm taking an opportunity to get out of the house. A departure from my juicing and salads and time out with my other half and my friend that lives in the Rochester area. I've seen the Walnut Street Winery several times during my Rochester visits. Today we decided to stop in. We learned that wines are brewed right here on site...and because of the limited menu guest are invited to order delivery from local eateries while enjoying their favorite wines. I've included menu images to give you an idea of what's what around here. But if you stop in Rachel one of the bartenders will be sure to answer your questions. Wine samplers are a $1 each. My favorites were the specialty reds, over the whites, though they were out of the peachy peach, which is one of the whites...I don't want to rate one I didn't try. And let me say the lighter wines were good but didn't match my mood for the day. And if I had to rate in order my preference of my top three specialties...I'd say, No. 3: Blackjack a middle of the road mild semi sweet red, flavorful and would easily accompany a pasta or red meat entree, No. 2: Berry Sinful a light airy sweet wine perfect for a girls day out or a night of quiet isolation with a movie and popcorn, and No. 1: Razzle Dazzle a full bodied dessert wine for any occasion. This was my first visit but I'm sure we'll be back again. Sangamon County and guest, come on in and say hello to your local winery. I'll meet you here. I gave it a four star rating because of the limited menu. Oh! BTW ...we missed the outdoor seating but I bet the summer months bring the locals a favorite dining spot.“
