First time I have ever been thrown out of a bar. The most run down nasty bar I have ever been in. I was simply thrown out because I picked up a piece of popcorn I had dropped. The bar maid thought I was puking on the floor. Nope just picking up my mess. Well I guess in a nasty biker bar with no music and warm beer one should leave the popcorn on the floor. I was asked to leave :) it was nice to be able to smoke in the bar with my beer. I miss that. Skip club 51...

After having a harrowing experience at another local bar a friend and myself were hesitant to enter Club 51. From the exterior this standalone building that sits off of an access road looked rather unwelcoming. We walked in and the entry room had a bloody hand print Halloween scene setter still up. In describing our experience to others we referred to this as "The Murder Room". Inside the place had a handful of regulars who were extremely friendly. They welcomed us, told us stories about the place and where just some really friendly people. The man behind the bar was an elderly gentleman. We learned later he was the owner and bartender. He went on to tell us all kinds of stories about New Millford history. He had some great stories! We learned a lot of things we that we had no clue about. All of the regulars that came in all were friendly and talked the place up. They bragged about how good the burgers were. We didn't order one because we had eaten previously. The bar itself is rather off putting. It is in some serious need of repair. There were a lot of old, non-functioning bar signs. The bar top and stools need replacing, same with the coolers. There is a stripper pole in one corner, but it doesn't get used apparently. The ceiling is covered in hand writing where people signed their names. Apparently if ladies take their tops off they can sign it. Yeah... The thing that really stood out was the floor was in horrible condition. Come to find out they allow bikers to bring their motorcycles into the bar and do burn outs. Not really a strong selling point. The whole place could also use a thorough cleaning. Overall we enjoyed our time there and I do love a good dive bar. I'd love to go back to hear more stories. I just don't think I want to be there when they allow the motorcycles in.
