If you’re anywhere near Rockford, IL, don’t miss this gem of an Indian restaurant! The flavors here are absolutely amazing — it truly feels like being back home in India.
We tried a variety of both non-vegetarian and vegetarian dishes, and every single one was bursting with authentic taste and perfect seasoning. But the real standout was the Sambar Idly — honestly, I’ve never tasted anything like it, even in India! The sambar was rich, aromatic, and perfectly balanced, and the idlis were soft and soaked up all that incredible flavor.
The ambiance is warm and welcoming, and the staff make you feel right at home.
If you’re craving real Indian food — not the usual Americanized version — this is the place to be. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a true taste of India right here in Rockford! 🇮🇳🍛

Their butter chicken is crack. I get the spicy version and the butter naan, and its Crack. Straight addicting. I can't stop thinking about it. How do they make the naan so fluffy and delicious? How do they make their butter chicken so tasty? My mouth is watering thinking about it now! Im ready to pawn my video games for another hit of their spicy butter chicken. I want to tell people not to come here so my order times get shorter (and so less people get addicted) but that would be unfair to this business. The first time I was here, some guy was literally moaning loudly everytime he took a bite. Its. That. Good.
Be warned, if you go there once, you will be back. Now its time to place my to go order.....

We visited Vanakkam India on our trip to Wisconsin Dells where we had an opportunity to taste their amazing south indian foods which we felt nostalgic like being in our hometown - Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu 🥰in every bite of the Mysore masala dosa with sambar and two chutneys, chicken soup, chicken 65, chicken dum biryani and the finishers Kappi 🤩 and rose milk ❤️. Not just the food, the choice of utensils used, serving style to the restaurant's atmosphere and a peaceful surrounding everything was so good. Thank you to all chefs, staffs and the owner of the Vanakkam India for making our dine in experience an unforgettable one. We tried seeing and thanking you in person for the homestyle food you made with so much love and details but unfortunately everyone were busy which is understandable so we are leaving this review to convey our heartfelt wishes to the Team. We highly recommend this restaurant to all the people out there.
