Ordered on grub hub. Showed up to pick up my order and the restaurant was closed. Like permanently closed. No hours on the door. Looks shut down.

Scrumptious Mexican food in downtown Skokie. They're open for dinner service only and it wasn't busy at all when we came in on a Friday night. The owner, Tom is really friendly and accommodating. The mahi mahi tacos were so fresh and flavorful and the mango salsa served on top was tangy and sweet. My husband really enjoyed his beef burrito. The ambiance is cool, dimly lit with Mexican music playing but not overwhelmingly loudly. Love this neighborhood spot!

Food is amazingly good. Very different than the typical "mexican" restaurants. The chef is the owner and the quality of food is delicious. They do try to accommodate dietary restrictions which is a plus.

Unique flavors in this traditional Mexican restaurant.Purple cabbage cole slaw give the tacos a special flavor blend.

Terrible experience dining in. Not enough staff - had a volunteer working who didn't know the basic menu. Food took so long we couldn't even stay because it was our child's bedtime. Received a reaction from staff for asking to box our food and cash out. Dirty plates stacked high by the cash register. Started to feel sick after eating the food. Do not recommend at all.

Amazing food and service. It is worth going out of your way to eat here. Food was fresh and delicious. Drinks were well-balanced and cold. Service was impeccable.

Everything was great, I’m a burrito guy not a taco guy but the tacos were good and the Suezo Burrito was great with the beans and rice. Great people, good atmosphere.

Such amazing staff so nice! Food and margaritas are also 10/10. Love it here.

This restaurant is awesome! The chips and salsa were so tasty that i didn’t even have time to take a picture. My friend ordered the salmon meal and I ordered the chicken sopes. Both were delicious and the sauces on the side added some nice spice. I loved the red one. MOST of all though, our server (and i think the owner?) was fantastic. She was attentive, communicative, cheerful and funny. We didn’t wait very long for food but she insisted on treating us to homemade tres leches cake. it was fluffy and perfectly milky! I’m excited to return :)

We had a great time last Friday. Beautiful garden, great margaritas and a good meal (chicken enchiladas verdes and tampiquena). Going back tomorrow. They seem to not always be open, but we are hoping we get lucky!

This has truly become my favorite Mexican spot and I'm upset at myself for not coming here sooner. Let me just sip my delicious margarita and forget about that. Jennifer the manager/server/bartender is truly amazing and made our dinner even better. She is hardworking, executes her jobs well, super friendly, great vibes, extremely fast and efficient. I will come back just to see her and the owner again. They are both amazing hardworking people busting their hump to survive in the restaurant biz during the scamdemic. The owner works as a roofer during the day and comes to work his restaurant at night. I admire and treasure hardworking, good people. Go support El Fuego as much as possible. I know we are. Margaritas come in a great variety of flavors. My favorite so far has to be the jalapeño passionfruit not listed but created by myself and Jennifer on that wonderful Taco Tuesday. Shrimp Ceviche was one of the best I have ever had. Love their salsas and chips. Can't wait to check out the rest of the menu and the nice patio. Loved the music they played which happened to be mostly Puerto Rican salsa. It was a great vibe. We truly enjoyed ourselves. The restaurant itself is large and spacious with a full bar. Love the huge windows overlooking Lincoln Ave. There is a lot and street parking...all free. They do carryout as well. There are fabulous daily specials during the week but definitely do the regular menu as well. Don't listen to the reviewers with complaints. They're most likely just miserable, impatient or just bad vibe people. You can take my review how you wish but it's honest and I recommend you judge for yourself. Buenos nachos amigos and remember, everyday is cinco de drinko.

Good enchiladas and margaritas, indoor dining, patio dining (twinkle lights very soon!), and takeout all good options. Tom, Jose and Larry are great hosts.
