Staff was very nice the food however was in no uncertain terms terrible. Doesn’t taste as good as I remember it being. My food was cold to the touch and my hush puppies were burnt. Very disappointing probably wouldn’t bother to come back.

Not overflowing with fish like in 80s-early 2000s....and priced a bit to high but overall still good even after the Carters sold it.

Serving old fish. I have never came and got fish from here and didn't have to wait on my food. My husband paid for it moved the truck to align with the parking, and food was ready....two mins? Last night fish....I cook everyday and know what reheated fish taste like.

Super easy to call in my order. The food was hot and ready to go when I went to pick it up. The catfish nuggets and walleye are great!

First time visiting from Chicago and I must say Carters did not disappoint. The cat fish strips were fried to perfection. I also had the fried green tomatoes which were also perfectly fried. I thought it would be a lil more sweet but it was still good. Wish the tomatoes came with some type of sauce. I also wasn’t a fan of the hot sauce but if I’m ever in Springfield again Carters is a must.

I sent 100s of people here, because it was a hidden gem. Smh, its been awhile for me and I heard mostly all the people I sent that came back says its not the same. I had a meeting about an hour away and decided yes. I will go try again for myself. I called in an order about 10mins out. Started in the car eating, didnt leave because I couldn't finish it, threw 2 dinners away plus sides. I noticed new ownership, then I knew why a product can got to 100 to a 25 that soon. Now new ownership doesn't mean good nor bad, but in this case its obvious the new owners culturally have no insite on a dish we've been eating for generations. So yes I assume old management gave them knowledge or industry secrets to keep it going, however knowledge in the hands of someone that how no idea how to use it properly is useless. I'm smart enough to understand that if I don't have the skillset to do something, I will get the best out there to accomplish my goal at hand. And likewise if you goin to take on a restuarant with no cultural intelligence nor interest about it besides money, is a reflection of your leadership and ultimately will run down to staff, then customers. You can fool a learned tongue with skipping processes. This was the worst I ever had. No need to drive 3hours away again. Im sad for the community. It actually make me want to open one the community can be proud of here myself. Change the grease, get rid of that cook, and stop walking around the place like its a liquor store or cigarette shop.
