What impressed me most was how authentic everything tasted. It honestly reminded me of sitting down for a home-cooked meal with family. You can tell the food is prepared with care and attention to detail.
St. Charles is incredibly lucky to have a place like Taste of Himalayas.
If you’re looking to try Nepali and Himalayan cuisine for the first time, or if you’re already a fan of authentic South Asian flavors, this place deserves a visit.
I started with the Vegetable Samosas, and they were excellent—fresh, crispy, and seasoned perfectly. The real standout was the chutney. Both the tamarind and spicy mint chutneys were incredibly fresh and packed with flavor. Every bite had a perfect balance of sweet, tangy, and spicy notes.
For my entrée, I ordered the Palungo Ko Saag, a traditional Nepali spinach dish cooked with tomatoes, onions, garlic, and authentic Nepalese spices. The flavors were rich, comforting, and tasted genuinely homemade. Instead of the standard rice, I upgraded to the Pulav Rice with saffron, peas, and cumin seeds, and it was absolutely worth it. The rice was fragrant, flavorful, and paired beautifully with the saag.
The meal also came with papad, onions, and peppers on the side, which added great texture and freshness to the experience. The portions were generous—I was already getting full after the samosas and still had leftovers from my entrée.
If you’re looking for authentic Himalayan and Nepali cuisine, I highly recommend Taste of Himalayas. Great food, generous portions, and an experience that feels warm and welcoming from start to finish. I’ll definitely be back.

The food was good but we had ordered hot, and the chanas were mild. also thhere was no raita with the parathas, that should come as a complimentary addition to parathas.

Waited for 15+ minutes after being handed over the menu, signaled the manager, tried calling the server. I HAD TO WALK OUT!!! Zero response, I get that the place is packed but if they can’t take care of the customers, they shouldn’t probably run a restaurant.

We have been dining at/taking out from the Taste of Himalayas For about 4 years now and every single time it seems more delicious than the last! Always fresh and so so tasty! The customer service is wonderful. So glad we have a spot like this in downtown Saint Charles.

What an amazing resturant this is…just epic.
Just came out having lunch, ordered veritable samosa, Nepali style chicken korma with rice, then finally rice kheer with puri…I am can’t tell, I keep saying wow, as I finish each item.
The thing I like about this place is it feels like home always from home, the taste, aroma, freshness, all reminded me how I used to eat at home when I went to a restaurant there…and the Kheer Prui did reminded me about my mom’s home made items.
Really love the environment, staff and specially the Chef, very humble person with genuine smile on his face.
I wish them all the best, may their business grow day and night and may more people get to know this place so they can also enjoy delicious food, without sacrificing the nutrition :)

Such an unforgettable treat with true authentic Nepalese and Indian foods at Taste of Himalayas. Their Momo is tasty and juicy with Tomatoes chutney. I have seen their online Menu is so impressive & truly diverse including each items photos.Portion size is large and we can easily share with your other diners who is with you. Its hidden treasures in beautiful small city of St. Charles. I strongly believe that whoever visits there they always make sure that you feel like you’re in heaven yourself. Highly recommended to everyone in this place.

I have been coming to Taste of Himalayas for at least 15 years. The food is excellent and always has been though I think the sauces were a little thin and could be thicker and creamier. I love the hot spices (I always order hot) and the chicken was tender. It’s a very friendly and welcoming restaurant. I missed saying hello to
Jack but we wish him well and to continue with his wonderful restaurant!
