R & B's Family Restaurant

We consoled ourselves for missing a rainy bike ride with a lengthy breakfast at an independent gem of a restaurant. The waitress was fantastic and kept us primed with good coffee. Biscuits and gravy were some of the best ever. Hope to get back some day!

Used to be one of our favorites. But today we were given drinks quickly and then forgotten. Two servers and three dining tables - no excuse for poor service. Room temperature was set too cool, also.

Good food, friendly server.

Ordered country skillet, biscuits and gravey, side of American fries deep fried. Sausage gravey was not on country skilled it was some kind of brown gravey with sausage pieces, that looked like vomit. Sausage gravy for breakfast should be white. American fries were not deep fried, however the potatoes in my skillet were. Asked for three eggs over easy. Nope got four over cooked. The bacon and sausage must have been left over from yesterday. Bacon was hard and unchewable. Horrible..... I do take out alot because of the little woman cant get out. Never again this the third chance I've giving them. Sure was better before it sold out.....

Wonderful restaurant and bar in Staunton, Il. Food specials everyday and a full service bar. The food is superb!

Reuben was not what I thought. It was ground up corned beef & not much is sauerkraut...and no 1000 island dressing. Very disappointing. Crab ragoon was over cooked. Again disappointing. Spent over $40 & had delivered to me..took an hour...wouldn't suggest it

Went here as we were passing through town, and it didn't disappoint. Their large salad, was just that--LARGE. The pretzel app with beer cheese were amazing. The service was spot on. And the bar area is like a bar your rich friend has in his basement. It was a super pleasent surprise.

On Thursday, August 7th, 2025, at around 8 a.m., we had a truly wonderful experience with a female server with black hair whose kindness meant more than she could have known. I’m sorry I don’t remember her name. That morning was especially heavy for us—we had just placed my husband’s mom in hospice and were simply trying to gather ourselves over a quiet meal. From the moment we sat down, her warmth and friendly demeanor created a space of comfort and calm. She was not only an excellent server—attentive and thoughtful—but also incredibly engaging, even noticing and commenting on our daughter’s stress ball. That small moment of connection lifted our spirits. As a token of appreciation, we left the stress ball behind for her, hoping it would reflect just a fraction of the gratitude we felt for her kindness that morning. Plain and simple - that describes both my feeling about this place and the food.
There is nothing outstanding, it's all mediocre. The saving grace is the wait staff. We have stopped going there altogether, because of the food, not any other reason.
I could elaborate, but it would be a very long ready. Oversalted, over-seasoned, over-done and dry when it shouldn't be. that covers it for me.

We ate breakfast, sercice was excellent, prices reasonable. All ten of us had some sort of egg dish. Food was good and plentiful, some took extra home. The hash browns could have been a little more crisp, everything else was good.

We had the special of Italian beef and onion rings. The sandwich was pretty big and delicious and glad that I picked the onion rings. They were done perfectly.

Excellent biscuits and sausage gravy! Had gravy left over after the last bite of biscuit. Those of you who order B&G know what I'm talking about! 😁
