This store has gone downhill in so many ways, I have decided to shop elsewhere after many years. For months now, I leave regretting that I shopped there. The quality of meat and deli items has deteriorated and their meat and deli employees are unfriendly and act like it's a bother to interrupt them to wait on customers. Their produce is not fresh and much of it on sale because it's old. The floors are dirty. There are minimal employees and NEVER a manager visible. What few check-out employees are there, are unfriendly, unmotivated, apathetic or on their phones. They bag the fruit with the bread or chips. Is there no training or is this just apathy? Many stores have employee challenges since the pandemic. However, there are stores whose employees are friendly, helpful, and act like they want to be there. I enjoy grocery shopping, despite these ridiculous prices. I'm going to shop where it is a pleasant experience, clean, good quality products, and employees that act like they're proud to be part of the organization and thankful to be employed.

Have always liked Schnucks Urbana for selection and fresh produce. My one gripe is how they handle curbside pickup through Instacart. 3 out of 4 times they meet expectations, but the 1 out of 4 is ridiculous. My latest order was initially delayed an hour, but four hours later was still not done. Called Instacart and Samuel K informed me there were no Instacart reps in store but some were appearing and he would expedite the order at no additional charge. The order wasn't completed until the following day, at the original delayed time and I followed the steps on their app for pickup. The app quickly gave a 3 minute ETA. Almost 30 minutes later, I called the store number and they brought out my order 5 minutes later. While I understand help is hard to find right now, in this store at least they seem to have a lower priority for Instacart Curbside Orders. In the future we will try one of the other locations across town. Sorry for the poor review, but they don't measure up to the competition.

I've tried to look the other way but I'm not doing it anymore. Countless times I have bought pork from this particular location with a good expiration date that ended up being spoiled. I won't ever buy pork from this store again and I'm honestly rethinking any fresh meat. It's happened too many times so there's something fishy in the meat department.

More about having to use instacart than Schnucks. Beware of using instacart--first time I used it, it did not recognize my on-line coupons. On Thursday, went to pick up order, it was not ready. Nor could I get through to the shopper. I shopped myself. The instacart order charged me $5.04 for cookies. When I went to the shelf, they were regularly $4.79, now on sale for 4.29. That's 75 cents, folks. There was a deal on 4x pepsi. Instacart did not give me that deal. BEWARE OF USING INSTACART AT SCHNUCKS.

Schnucks in Urbana has been my grocery store of choice for a very long time. Since the start of the pandemic my husband and I have used online ordering with curbside pickup. It has been for the most part a positive experience. Recently we ordered on a Wednesday and had a Saturday pickup. On Saturday it was changed to a Sunday pickup. On Sunday it was changed to a late Tuesday pickup. On Monday I called Instacart concerned that I would not get groceries. They were very helpful and were able to get my pickup changed to earlier in the day on Tuesday. On Tuesday about two hours before my designated pickup time I received a notice that my order was being canceled. I again called Instacart.Because Schnucks in Urbana canceled my order Instacart was not able to process that order for another location. I totally understand if there are personnel issues, but there was never any explanation. We are senior citizens. We are choosing to continue to shelter. Customer service is really lacking at this site at the present time.

Well I have been a shopper at Schnucks in Urbana for years and will not be going back very sad! The last few times I have been in it has been getting worse and worse. From not having items they have carried for years and name brand ones at that. To have nasty filthy the store has become. It isn't just a few weeks of cleaning that has went by it is very dirty from months and months. Hate to see this.

Wonderful store, terrible sushi. I love Schnuck's. I am from a small town and you can't get things like kimchee or good sourdough bread at our local grocery. I also have always looked forward to their sushi. Well, I had some today and it was terrible. They must have changed suppliers. It had no flavor at all and the outside of the rolls tasted like wax and was hard to chew. Instead of wasabi and pickled ginger it now comes with sweet chili sauce which was very bland and basically tasted like a packet of corn syrup. Big waste of ten bucks. I'm calling the manager to complain. Other than that, Schnuck's is great- good store brands, beautiful produce, olive bar and the meat is superb. I shop for good deals and usually come out even or sometimes cheaper than at my local store.

I'm surprised by the mixed reviews of Schnucks on here. I can't say enough how glad I have Schnucks nearby. They have a wide variety of just about any kind of grocery item and they are also fairly priced. They're always offering all sorts of deals and if you download their app, you can clip digital coupons and rack up points for rewards. I've already been able to save a few dollars from rewards points. Their produce is fresh and I really appreciate how you can find fruit that are on sale. No need to pay a lot of money for healthy foods. I also like their bakery section... especially their ciabatta bread. So good! It's cheap and you won't be disappointed. One last thing.. they're open for 24 hours! I've been here at odd hours and it's really nice to have a place to shop all throughout the day. Parking is plenty and it's in a quiet spot in Urbana. Not sure how Schnucks was in the past, but I know I'll be doing my grocery shopping there.

I used to find this location very overpriced, and while it has been getting better in that respect, it is still almost always worth the extra distance to go to Meijer (assuming you have a car). However, the location is great for people in Urbana near the university, and for some reason I really like the ambiance of this grocery store. It is a very nice size store for stopping in and grabbing a few things, and there is something very calming and warm feeling when I go there late at night. It is always the same person working the register, and a very pleasant security guard in the store. I don't know why I like it, but I do.

Great place to stop for groceries or to pick up a couple items. It's close to where I work so it's incredibly convenient to stop in really quick and be on my way. I really like the fact that the employees are friendly and always ask if you need any help finding a particular item. They also added extra self-checkouts recently which is nice. The main checkouts can sometimes get a little backed up so the extra self-checkouts are especially convenient. Overall, this is a really great place with competitive prices. It's a nice grocery shopping option that I'll keep coming back to.

I have gone to this grocery store for years. I have generally had positive experiences. There was one rather unfortunate incident. I brought my service dog into the store one morning. An employee who was obviously ignorant of Illinois law involving service dogs and of this store's policies harassed me. She actually removed the two grocery items from my cart and screamed at me. It was embarrassing. I still gave this store a five star rating despite that nasty woman. The reason the store gets a five star rating is because the store manager. He handled it very professionally. And when I came back in and talked to him about her actions he apologizes. An apology goes a long way with me. He met my service dog and so did several other employees. And told me my service dog and i were always and still are welcome to shop there. Plus this store gives thousands of dollars of food to local food pantries a month! What an asset to our community!

In general, Schnucks is a good go to spot for a great selection of produce and general groceries at a good price however, I am very disappointed with my propane exchange experience. First of all, when you purchase your first tank, they call the initial fee a deposit. This fee is NOT a deposit. A deposit is something you eventually get back or can be put towards a purchase if you decide to stop buying the product that requires the use of the container you've purchased. This is not so with propane at Schnucks. In fact, you are paying extra for a container that has no value and that you can't get your money back for and the employees have no idea how to help you get your deposit from the company based out of Danville called Amerigas. The woman on the phone wasn't even trying to help me get an answer and even told me the wrong name of the company! Then she said that propane is like redbox, an outside vendor - not true! You don't interact with Schnucks employees when renting a dvd from redbox! Terrible customer service when I needed it the most! I am very disappointed!

I don't know if this is supposed to be a site for serious reviews or not. Schnucks is near my home so I shop there a lot. The selection is pretty good and house brands are better than average. However, the signage leaves a lot to be desired. They often leave up sale tags that have expired with expiration date in small letters and reduced price in huge letters. Or a price tag that refers to only a few items in the display. Then when I get to the check-out, I'm charged a larger price than expected. Customer service is unresponsive. For this reason, I often go to stores that might not have as much variety because it saves me the hassle of having to leave items behind due to poor signage.

I like Schnucks because the prices are good, but yesterday I was there at around 9 p.m. and i was looking for something. Since there was no worker near by, not even behind the meat counter, I walked through the entire store and still could not find anyone to ask for help. At other times, I remember there were so many workers. If you offer a 24 hour service, you should be serious about that. Other than that the quality of the products is always good and the workers are always very nice and helpful, when they are there.

While I do most of my eating away from the house, when I do eat at the house, most of my food is purchased from here. Stopped in on Saturday night after a long evening of working at the brewery then doing some downtown walking, to pick up a few items. I knew I needed pit stick and shampoo, and I wanted to get some stuff to eat as well. A friend online had recommended a keto diet, and i'm like ... hmmm, bacon, meat, butter, no carbs... sounds like fun. So I walked around the store and got all kinds of low to no carb things. There's a really nice butter selection, with some amish butter, and I also picked up some pepper butter, because it's there! A variety of meats were available, so I got a lot of meat. I also picked up some seafood things as well. For snacks, got some mixed nuts, as well as a big old tub of almonds, pork rinds, and beef sticks. With my lifestyle, the no carb thing is going to be tough, especially cutting back on beer. So, most of my carbs each day are going to be coming from liquid varieties. I've been told whiskey is 0 carb, so... whiskey it is. I definitely prefer bourbon, but am willing to drink some jameson, and maybe a scotch or two, but mostly it'll be bourbon. The late night lady, Sue, is awesome. She has gotten to know me a little bit over the past couple of years. She always asks if it was a busy night, or where I worked and have been. Their sushi is pretty good. When the salad bar is up, it's a really nice one. It's not up at late night. Once, I went in and had to get some other essential items, and forgot the most important reason for stopping in on the check out lane. As I'm getting into my car, my new co-worker at Barrelhouse comes running out "VIRGIL, YOU FORGOT THIS!!!" Frantically waving the extra large package of toilet paper. The guys at my house poop a lot. A LOT!
