Denny's Reviews
We went to Dennys in Vandalia, Il. today . 2/12/26. it was a great noon meal and very reasonably prices . We both had a meal on the (meals under 10 dollars) menu. I would recommend this Dennys as it was fast and friendly service, good food and reasonably priced unlike the Dennys at Effingham Illinois that is slower than snails.
Got my usual, Santa Fe sizzlin skillet, smallest portion I’ve ever seen. 2 small eggs over lapped it. No peppers or onions at all, just like 10 uncooked potato cubes and eggs. Absolutely horrible. Service was good, food 0/10
This is the best Dennys. The staff is great the food is great.

Denny's Restaurant in Vandalia, Illinois, offers a variety of dining experiences. Some customers appreciate the reasonable prices, especially on the "meals under 10 dollars" menu, and find the food to be good with generous portions. One reviewer highlighted that their breakfast, including cheddar eggs, was delicious, and the prices fit the portions and quality, making it a favorite spot for travelers. Discounts are often available online, and the restaurant supports veterans, which is appreciated by many guests who also report that staff sometimes go above and beyond by sending extra toast, sausage, or hashbrowns to their tables.
Service quality varies. Some customers experienced fast, friendly, and attentive service, with a particular server being praised for her dedication and teamwork. The cook named Cody received compliments for a phenomenal steak, and overall, service was described as outstanding, especially considering staffing levels. However, others encountered issues with new or distracted waitstaff who forgot orders, mixed up drinks, or brought out the wrong or incomplete meals. These service problems included forgotten toast, extra meals that had to be sent back, and difficulty with drink refills, which affected the overall experience.
Food quality also received mixed reviews. While some found their meals tasty and satisfying, others felt their meals were sparse or not well prepared, such as a Grand Slamwich that was mostly bread and less egg and meat than expected. Despite these inconsistencies, many guests still enjoy visiting Denny's in Vandalia, citing good food, friendly service, and reasonable prices as reasons to return.
