The good: - menu had good variety of seafood staples - service was attentive - portions were reasonable size - taste and finish were ok The not so good: - cafeteria vibe with white tablecloth prices - best way to explain is...picture a typical over priced tourist trap restaurant in say Myrtle Beach...and place it in the suburbs of Chicago.

I had a fantastic experience at Bob Chinn's Crabhouse in Wheeling! From the moment I arrived, I found easy parking to the side of the building. I highly recommend making a reservation online, as the wait can be quite long if you walk in. Upon being seated, I ordered the signature Mai Tai, which came in a fun tiki mug with Bob Chinn's face on it. While the Mai Tai was good, it was a bit on the sour side for my taste. To start, I tried the clam chowder, which arrived piping hot and was absolutely delicious. The main course, the crabmeat vermicelli, was outstanding. It contained premium crabmeat stir-fried with tender cellophane noodles, bacon, onion, egg, and drizzled with oyster sauce. It's easily one of the best crab dishes I've ever had. One nice touch was the complimentary garlic rolls that the server brought out at the beginning of the meal. They were tasty but a bit cold. Overall, I would definitely return to Bob Chinn's Crabhouse if I find myself in the Wheeling area again. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the ambiance was lively. Highly recommended!​

General great service, always great food. Price is expensive, but it's consistently the best seafood around. And what many people don't know, their steak and burgers (only at lunch time) are phenomenal.

One of the best in the Chicago area! Not only is the food delicious, but dining here is an experience, with the decor, food displays, and gift shop. Servers are very knowledgeable. Mai Thai's are a must!

Rockefeller oysters , lobster rolls , king crab rolls , unlimited garlic rolls , and their famous Hawaiian luau cake ! This dinner kept getting better and better! Bob Chins Crab House has jet fresh seafood delivered daily! You can taste quality here! Seafood=perfection! We celebrated our 6 year anniversary here and we wouldn't wanted to go anywhere else! The indoor environment makes you feel like you're underwater ‍‍ The service is always impeccable and the ambiance is amazing!

Hit the lobster itch I've had for a long time. Food tastes amazing and the Mai Tais come in cute tiki cups. Great service. Would highly recommend.

This place has been around for YEARS. It's about the SEAFOOD.... Some dishes have and Asian Flare to them... So they must be doing something right!! Since I don't live in Chicago anymore I try to make it here when I visit the chi. Always a Stellar meal and great trophy drinks too! Check this place out you might like it!

Was really disappointed ...Bob Chinns, in our experience in your restaurant last night 4/14. I made a reservation for 3, and noted on the reservation that we are celebrating a 60th birthday. Your server had no acknowledgement of this, he made us feel rushed in a way. I didn't like that! He had an OCD problem or something, IDK. Kept checking and trying to take stuff away. Our dinner was very good. The lobster was fantastic. But this experience with the waiter has got me knocking down stars on this review. After dinner WE WERE NOT EVEN OFFERED A HAPPY BIRTHDAY PIECE OF CAKE! No acknowledgement of a birthday like I said earlier. He offered dessert menu and we declined cuz we actually had a homemade cake waiting at home and we told him that. He didn't say "oh it's your birthday " or nothing like that. He STILL COULD HAVE OFFERED JUST THE SAME! I even tipped GENEROUSLY because my husband didn't want to take away for the birthday thing. If I ever go back BOB Chinns, you can bet now I won't tip well! I was pissed. This was a milestone birthday...60th and we could go to any freaking restaurant we want but we chose you SO DO BETTER NEXT TIME! Annette L.

Food is ok, typical taste, price is higher. Service I'm not satisfied, the lady who served us is not attentive , not friendly. She's carrying my drinks & chitchatting at the same time with other customers & waiter, not realizing maybe her spits is all over my drinks. Please... put my drinks on my table first then you can chitchat with others, thank you very much ! Ambiance it's alright. It's a big place , that's all I can say.

Bob Chinn's has been a staple for fresh seafood and delicious offerings for decades. Since the pandemic, as well as with Bob's passing, the menu has gotten smaller. While there are some offerings I miss immensely, e.g., Early Bird dinner special - dozen oysters or plate of medium boiled shrimp with each entree ordered, the fish nugget appetizer, etc., many of the tried and true offerings still exist. Some may be seasonal but that had always been the case. Service was fantastic par usual as well. I noticed that while the foot traffic and wait time isn't as high or prevalent as it once was, it makes it easier to show up and be immediately seated. Try the ahi tuna seared hot plate with brown sauce, onions and mushrooms (or just onions or mushrooms) - thank me later. Chargrilled fish is always bomb as well! I always look forward to going to Bob Chinn's.

The service was very disorganized. They seem to need more help. The waiter could not handle a large number of people very well. The lobster tail was overcooked and that was disappointing considering how much you have to pay for the food. The filet mignon was good. The ambiance was ok.
