Very satisfied! The interior is surprisingly tiny and not much to comment on, but they more than made up for it with the food and service. They had one of the better pokes I've tried in the Chicagoland area. Sushi quality and freshness were also very good.

We went to Akira for an early dinner. Food was fresh, thoughtfully plated, and quickly served. We will definitely be back.

I've been to many sushi places in and around the Chicagoland area without a doubt this has to be near the top of the list. There's outdoor patio seating which is really nice when you have decent weather. Inside there's not too much to look at in terms of decorations, but let me tell you, they saved all their money for the quality of their sushi! My wife and I came here for our wedding anniversary and when I told the waitress it was our anniversary they brought out for us a vase of lemon sake... on the house! That it's good customer service! My wife and I tried calling your dragon roll, the menage a trois, and fried sweet potato roll. All of them were excellent, especially the menage a trois a role which was melt in your mouth good. All three rolls came out in a boat that had a lit up ice cube covered in veggies. I was really impressed with the presentation and even more so with the quality and taste of the sushi. This is one of, if not my top favorite sushi restaurant in Chicago and I will definitely be back!!

Great value for money. Favorites are the spicy tuna, spicy illinois, spicy chicago, Spicy Sweet Potato Tempura, and the Volcano rolls.

My family LOVES Akira! The food is fresh, creative and delicious. Their Tuna TarTar is the best I've ever had and their complimentary white fish appetizer is scrumptious. I can't speak highly enough about this restaurant. The service is friendly, attentive, and kind. They make you feel like family when you go there. If you haven't been there I highly recommend it!!

This is the best sushi in the north shore. The fish is extremely fresh which makes the sushi melt in your mouth. Although it is a bit pricey, it is definitely worth it.

This place is delicious!! Fish was fresh and amazing I ordered two rolls and was happy with both. It was a little expensive but so worth the price. I would definitely recommend

The food was good. Decent portions and prompt service. Had to wait a little while for food order although restaurant was not full. Otherwise the rest of the experience was great

153 Akira is located in downtown Wilmette, which is small in size, but has some great services and restaurants to offer. Parking is usually easy to find. There are some street parking near the restaurant. 153 Akira is located across from the Panera Bread mall. I've been to 153 Akira for lunch and dinner and I think their lunch menu is one of my favorite places for Japanese food. They have lunch specials and prices and quality of food are great. They have the best katsudon in town! I most always go for their katsudon and portion size is huge. Their dinner prices are a bit on the higher size and I've only tried their nabeyaki udon. Taste was fine, but price was higher than I expected. Service here is wonderful. Food comes out fast and servers are friendly. I highly recommend checking out 153 Akira, especially for lunch!

Gross! Place had all these awards, etc. It's obvious people have no ideas what good sushi is. The temperature of the sushi was as if it came directly out of the refrigerator, very little salmon and tuna, very bland and nasty. Their idea of shrimp shumai is shumai with a piece of shrimp on it. I labored through the garbage, never again and definitely way over priced, but we are in Wilmette. If you want real sushi at a great price, visit any HOT WOKS COOL SUSHI in Chicago becauae this place sucks!

Great discovery! We took our daughter and her friend here and all had a first rate experience. The food (sushi, tempura and Udon noodles) were all very good. Prices are very reasonable and quite a bit lower than 2 other well rated Japanese restaurants we considered. Attentive service too. Special surprise was a delicious whitefish tempura on the house! We will go again on our next visit to the area.

Food was alright and customer service was good, but had a bad experience overall with my son. They said they had ice cream... turned out they did not. Took them a long time to come back and tell us that, which crushed his little heart. They came back again about ten minutes later and said they have a substitute. I had a conference call I was trying to join so I said please bring me that. It was mochi ice cream, which requires great supervision - after all it is the number one killer in Japan during New Years, because it is a great choking hazard. Needless to say I couldn't concentrate on my call at all. Will try it again, as I think I had an out-of-ordinary bad experience, but do not see this place getting greater than a three star review in my book. Best put as a local place to get food.
