We were hosting a work Christmas party last Friday. We had reservations for 9 at 6pm. Service was the worst ive experienced and we would have walked out if we didn’t bring other guests with us to try this restaurant we were excited about - after waiting 1 1/2 for our food ( 2/9 ordered salads) and other tables getting service my husband went to talk to the owners husband who acted annoyed and said “your foods coming”

We had a fantastic time celebrating our best friends anniversary. The owner took time to chat with us and then she surprised us with delicious warm blueberry muffins to complement our Old Forester Birthday Bourbon as well, it’s the perfect pairing!
What a fantastic Bourbon book with so many options!
We will be back!

Based on recent reviews, 6 On James offers a mixed experience. The restaurant has the largest spirits list and a very good beer selection, with live music that provides a finishing touch. The lake community atmosphere makes guests feel welcomed, and the service is often described as extremely attentive, sweet, friendly, and prompt.
However, opinions on the food are divided. Some guests found all food to be perfect, especially during a special event featuring chef Amber Kuespert with Korean delights. Others were very disappointed, noting that the quality of the food has dropped. Complaints include limited offerings that taste like typical bar food, described as prepackaged and reheated. One guest reported a burger that hadn’t been seasoned, and another noted that for the pricing, the portions were small. A Christmas party visit involved a wait of over 2 hours for food, even with a reservation. While some would visit again for the drinks and music, others were very disappointed compared to good experiences from the summer or at the previous location.
