Bub's Burgers & Ice Cream

Very disappointed- didn’t even get to eat- went in with family and we had been driving for many days moving my son to IU- needed a bathroom badly and we were starving and excited about the food… but as we were headed to be seated, nobody would tell me where the bathrooms were. I walked in circles a few times looking. My son said he had previously used one upstairs so I quickly made my way up -only to walk in citcles up there before I was told I couldn’t use the bathroom I finally found there, that it was clearly marked downstairs. I again went back down and looked and finally found one… and I must have been blind with pee because I still didn’t see a sign above this ‘clearly marked’ bathroom- the toilet was a bit gross, but I had no choice, so I was at my wits end when I found there was no soap in the dispenser - so I left and ran across the street to the city hall to clean up and didn’t return. Wasted money on parking for the two cars and made myself and my kids feel super humiliated. What are the employees and people eating hamburgers washing their hands with? No thanks! When I called in to talk to the manager later and explain and suggest it was a little crappy, the manager hung up on me… when I thought maybe it was a mistake I called back and he wouldn’t answer. Rude. Signed frantic older woman.

We love Bub's! The staff is always so kind and upbeat, and food is always fantastic!

We went for ice cream. Not only was ice cream amazing, but we had quite possibly the most friendly server I've encountered in Bloomington. My 10 year old says they have "the best milkshake ever."

Service was lacking on our larger table. One of our guests was forgotten when the food came out. The order was never even put in. Another guest ordered a plate to go that turned out to be incomplete when they opened it later. Even though the burger was tasty, I will not be going back again. Draft beers are quite expensive at ~$9 each.

Is it the best hotdog you will ever eat? No, that is at the Orbit Room down the street, but it is a really good hotdog and a delicious burger for a good price.

Such an incredibly Hoosier vibe, I'm not even a true local and it still feels like a hometown classic. Coming here was as good for my heart and soul as it was poor for my arteries and waistline.

While I've always appreciated that Bloomington has a wide variety of international eateries (especially for Indiana) but sometimes you just want an American Burger™️. Enter the Big Ugly - usually challenges like this suffer from the declining quality of the food due to the quantity. Not so at Bub's - and while the "challenge" being fairly easy certainly says more about me than it does the burger, it helps that it was scrumptious. Lick your fingers like a dainty Victorian child SCRUMPTIOUS.

When I start eating beef regularly again, I plan to return for a sequel, and shamefully/victoriously hang a second picture.

Zack was my server and was absolutely phenomenal! The food was amazing. So delicious. We had an Elk burger and beef burger w waffle fries and a shake. The portion sizes were big and the buttered buns set it off! Thank you Bubs and thank you Zack, you made our visit great! We will be back and we are bringing the whole family
