Based on reviews we must have ended up here on an off day. Food was bland. Service was subpar - my husband had to request a drink refill 3 times before it was provided. I asked for a box for leftovers - my husband finally had to go inside to get it and it took 2 requests to get our bill. Not a good first impression....

The place is family owned and the recipes come from the current owners mother Juanita. The food was fabulous. It's definitely real deal mexican food. The Mole is the best I've ever had. The price is good and each plate we got would feed 2 people so the portions are larger. You get what you pay for. You want real mexican go to Juanita's.

This was our first time here. We went on a Monday at 9pm. It was one of the only Mexican restaurants open past 9pm. The food was delicious!!! The menu was authentic and had many options I thought about trying next time. The chips dip hit the spot! It was thick enough to stay on the chip. The salsa was good too! I got the chicken fajitas and it came with so much food. It had a good amount of guacamole and I'm glad it did because it was amazing!! I asked to load it up with peppers because I hate onions and they did, no problem. So much food!! The waitress was super attentive and refilled our drinks often, got us Napkins and boxes and took our empty plates when needed. The place was definitely clean too. It's cozy inside and they have an outdoor seating area too.

We came in to celebrate our 3 yr old daughter's birthday. She is autistic and can sometimes be a handful. Our server Ceaser was so kind and accommodating. Our friends drove all the way from Indy to join us and it was their 1st time there. They LOVED the food and the service was great. Thanks for a great experience!

I found glass in my carnitas tacos I had for takeout. At first it was one big piece of glass, and I thought maybe it was just by chance, but then I found more. I’m terrified I ate more glass before noticing the huge piece.I called them and they told me to call back later after questioning why I called two days after ordering (because I don’t like to eat all my food in one sitting? And the taco I did eat was chicken and didn’t have glass), insisting they couldn’t find my order (it’s the most basic order - tacos), and then told me to call later. It should not be on me to chase them down for putting glass in my food. I love Juannita’s and I’m a regular customer, so it was disappointing to see their reaction. No longer coming here with friends.

We walked in, a party of 7. No greeting. Our server is a teen with no uniform, just a black hoody with broken glasses, clearly unhappy to be there. He mumbles, and is wearing ear pods while he works so we aren’t sure he hears us. The pass is visible so I can see him grabbing chips with his hands, eating a few, and adjusting his ears repeatedly. He auctions off food at every table, I watch him nearly give out our appetizers to the neighboring table, chewing food while he delivers food.No one uses trays, some of the food we see coming out is balanced on all sorts of body parts. Drinks are balanced with greasy hands. The kids meal quesadilla was supposed to come with beans and rice, instead it came with partially unmelted cheese inside the quesadilla. The pozole was like luke warm water. The enchiladas that I ordered came out 7 minutes after the rest of our entrees. The cheese was not melted, the rice was not hot, and the beans were soup. I couldn’t eat it. We ordered a side of guacamole that was clearly made several days ago, with a brown color and no salt. No one checked on us after the food arrived. There was a mildly pervasive smell of seafood in the dining room, and for some reason the temperature under the table was frigid. An African American man was the only person who smiled and said hello; he was FaceTiming while working and his pants fell down to expose his butt crack every time he went up the stairs. Not sure what his position was as he was not in uniform, nor was anyone else. The check was dropped and we said thank you to no reply, and no one said a word when we left. Easily one of the worst experiences in memory.

Great place to eat!! The food was amazing, I had the sweet mango tacos and my boyfriend had the barbacoa tacos. Both were delicious, their complementary chips and salsa were amazing too. I have to say their salsa is the best in Bloomington. Their strawberry margaritas were also fire. The weight staff was super nice and we got a lot of food for the amount we paid. They also have some cheaper lunch specials that looked amazing.

First time at Juanita's and was pleasantly surprised! Best Mexican we've had in Bloomington. Tried the Juanita fajitas because it had a lot of different meats to see what was best. The pork was amazing! All the meat was good and so tender it was hard to stab with a fork. Husband's goat tacos were also good but the fajitas were better. The salsa you get for free was amazing, spicy and flavorful which you don't get a lot around here. The refried beans too were so good! I'm a bean snob and judge harshly. These tasted homemade. Top three of our places to go in Bloomington on just one trip. Probably a fun place in the summer with the outdoor seating. We will be returning! I have my eye on a few other menu items.

I love this place! Maybe the best Mexican food in Bloomington?! I love in California, and was pleasantly surprised. Also, I love supporting family businesses! I'll always come here when I'm in town.
