Live music is ungodly loud. It made me want to leave very fast. Food is just mehhhh. Nothing to brag about.

When my first time going I got to say 2 good bands the building is awesome the staff is excellent don't get me wrong They would have got a full complete 5 stars but the night I went It was a complete pact house as it were.. So it receives the rating I put it but I don't know that yes it is a 5 star bar.

5-Star was recommended to me ages ago, but its infrequent when I get down to Elkhart. The first time was Monday, and 5-Star was closed. I was sad. The next time was during the summer on a Tuesday, and 5-Star was closed. I was sad, but staying multiple nights.

Then, their A/C was malfunctioning on a Wednesday, and I thought fate was telling me not to go, but shortly after they opened, and of course after a night of disappointment in other places, I absolutely went.

What I experienced after was one of the greatest environments anyone could ask for. Living in the Metro Detroit area, a welcoming and friendly nature is a lost art, and 5-Star has this in spades. In the matter of less than an hour I went from feeling like an outsider to family, and _wanted_ to see more, come back, and get to know others there.

To my Charlestonian friends, its as if AC's and the Music Farm had a beautiful love child (without stacks of Iron City, but they have Yuengling, so they win)

To my smoking friends: They have a patio where you don't have to leave. Sold.

To my foodie friends: They have the best cheese sticks you'll ever have. I'm sure the rest is awesome, but sometimes you have to stick to a liquid diet.

And to Sallie: Thanks for being freaking awesome.

So... this place is raved about on local radio promoted even but clearly a paid promotion, now to be clear my wife and I visited here for a dinner cuz they say the moz sticks are good, I will edit my review if I think about visiting during a show, but I will NEVER recommend this place for food aside from the moz sticks, see our pics but my Nashville hot chicken sandwich was lower then GFS food, it was food pantry bun and frozen chicken patty with sugar and honey topping, my wife's grilled cheese was not even toasted bread with shredded cheese and old bacon etc. the Moz sticks were delicious, but the service (there was 5 tables in the place at the time) spent more time with the group of guys buying the bartender and staff shots then with us. they drank more than I did. moz sticks 100% service 0%, food my 8 year old makes better, i see why they pay for advertisement, and MAYBE this is more a niche dive bar that only makes money on local bands trying to make a name, but i feel disappointed

Service: 4 star, good, but not excellent if you ignore the staff taking shots behind the bar. Waitress was attentive. Food arrived timely but cold.
Food: This is a place where you only order appetizers and drinks.
The mozzerilla sticks were amazing! (Pictured) We loved them!
I ordered the 'grilled cheese' (pictured). The 'cheese' was shredded cheese, not even a slice or multiple slices of cheese with a sliced tomato and a piece of bacon with toasted texas toast bread. This is NOT a grilled cheese! It was made with toasted bread, not grilled at all! I was VERY disappointed. I say one star because while the mozzerilla sticks tasted excellent they were cold. Freshly deep fried mozz sticks are typically hot to the touch and loaded with fryer grease. These seemed, precooked and reheated. I've had better at the fair from a food truck! But still, delicious.
The fries were basic frozen fries.
My husband ordered the Nashville Chicken sandwhich and the patty was a frozen patty with sauce that had so much sugar added. I can say the ingredients were basic but not well exectuted. We have frequented local places such as The Kitchenette in down town South Bend with basic ingredients and still successfully pulled off a 'homemade' meal, however this place did not.
Overall, I don't recommend this as a place to bring your family or come for a dinner. If your looking for drinks and appetizers while checking out a band or event, it's a place worth checking out.
Atmosphere: We went during dinner (6pm) on a Friday afternoon and they were mostly dead. There was a band setting up, so this lead me to believe this was mostly a night time bar hang out with bad menu options apart from appetizers. Go to Madison Oyster Bar if you want better food options.

Great place for live music and a good time! Amazing prices.

Sometimes, waiting for the food takes a while-- I ordered the $5 Wednesday special cheeseburger and finished all my water and then some waiting.

It's partially understandable when the place is busier over dinner hour. Would come again!

I had ordered the Ceasar salad because in the past it was one of my favorites to get from there. When I got it the cheese was wrong, the lettuce was wilted and kinda slimy, there was no dressing and there were maybe 4 small slivers of chicken on the salad that were smaller than my pinky finger. The salad was entirely inedible and I had to throw it out. I am extremely disappointed in Five Star. It used to be one of my favorite places to eat or get food from but now it's dropped off that list. I will not be ordering from or returning to the restaurant again for a long while. My advice to those reading is that you do the same because their quality of food has gone down hill very quickly.

Man, I can't stress how disappointed I am in 5 Star. I love this bar, it is close to my house and my family has been coming here long before they changed locations. We love this place. But they are going downhill fast. The food was embarrassing, I got a chicken sandwich and the piece of chicken was the size of a chicken tender. The menus were shredded, it looked like they had been chewed on. The service was so bad, the server looked like she did not want to be there and all but rolled her eyes when we ordered. I love the events that they have here but I won't be going back unless things drastically improve. They should be embarrassed.
