“Some of my earliest childhood memories are of going to Merry Go Round with my grandparents, where we were always treated with the kind of warmth and hospitality you never forget. I can still remember getting lost in the charm of it all — the diner feel that nodded back to its early days, the carousel horses proudly displayed at every angle, and of course, the unforgettable cooking — especially the spaghetti.

Over the years, we made so many memories there. When my grandma passed away three years ago, I found myself thinking of that place often — how special it was to us both. I couldn’t bring myself to go back, not without her. Merry Go Round wasn’t just a restaurant to her — it was a part of her story. She used to tell me how her own mother once worked there. Her loyalty to that little diner kept our family coming back for generations.

Today, I finally gathered the courage to see if the doors were still open — and to my joy, they were. With my children in hand, off we went. Walking through those doors felt like stepping back home. The familiar warmth met us immediately — smiling faces, genuine hospitality, and that same sense of belonging that I remembered so well. The carousel horse still stood proudly in the center of the diner, just as it had years ago.

We sat down, and our sweet server brought the boys applesauce and crackers. It made me smile remembering eating the same as a child. I showed the boys how to dip their crackers in the applesauce, explaining how it was the perfect little palate cleanser before the spaghetti. And when the spaghetti arrived, it looked exactly as I remembered. But the taste — the taste brought me right back to sitting beside my grandparents laughing around the table.

After all these years, they’ve stayed true to who they are — honoring their history. It’s rare to find that kind of authenticity anymore with great food to back it up.

To our wonderful server with mother-like hospitality, and to the kind man who greeted us with a smile and great conversation and a clear love for the restaurant — thank you. My heart is full again. Today, I felt my grandma with me — and through that meal, I got to have a little piece of her once more. I will make sure to not be a stranger again. THANK YOU.“

“I keep seeing the staff park by the door and right in front the restaurant. We keep having to park in the parking lot a few rows down. My 93 year old mother would love the few less steps to the restaurant. I would have loved one of those closer spots when I broke my foot. Why are those closer parking spots for the staff and not for customers? I find that strange. The staff I see parking close seem to walk just fine and are not loading items. They just seem to be leaving for the night. Please designate the closer parking spots for customers and not just for staff and waiters only. Thank you.“

Whenever I get a craving for Chinese this is the only place I will go to. They are fantastic. Can’t say enough abt the food. Way to go Karen and Eddie!!!!“

“My hubby and I are quickly becoming regulars! We have been to Bandana's in Evansville at least six times in the past month.

The food is consistently delicious. I love the smoked chicken, my husband loves the sausage! The menu offers something for everyone with a wide variety of tasty sides. And... the garlic bread is to die for!

Delicious food aside, the servers are stars! We've had different servers on each visit and every server has been wonderful. The service is quick, the servers are friendly and they make you feel welcome!“

“I have eaten at the Kite and Key for breakfast a couple of times before and everything was wonderful, but this time I tried lunch, and not so wonderful. I was there early, 11:20. I had a chef salad which wasn't bad but not nearly as big as I expected. The menu said, " too many desserts to list", or something to that effect. I asked the waitress what kind of desserts they had. She said only muffins and cinnamon rolls. I chose the cinnamon roll, which looked delicious, as it was covered in nice warm icing. But the roll must have been very stale, because even after warming, I had a hard time cutting it with my knife. The waitress was not very attentive in warming up my coffee. I had to ask the first time, and she never came back to ask me again. The price was very reasonable, but I was disappointed.“

“My brother and sister in law were recently in town from Colorado. We needed a place to eat on the north side. I remembered a friend saying they liked the Twisted Tomato. My brother ordered a Stromboli my sister in law and I ordered a sub with chicken and ranch. Both sandwiches were awesome and the staff was very friendly. The next evening we ordered a pepperoni pizza for delivery. It was great!!“

They close at 9, but we're still serving us and being just as attentive as they would be during regular hours which goes a long way. We both had the Filet which is always cooked to perfection, Caesar salad was amazing, steakhouse mac and cheese was out of this world, and they even cooked us a little birthday dessert which was raspberry topped creme brûlée. 100% recommend. “Personal Crab Rangoon Rating: 9/10Perfect crunch, perfect filling to dough ratio! The filling on this one is also not too sweet but not overwhelmingly savory, it's just perfect to me. I think sometimes other places also make the filling a little too liquid-y but not this place! I will say though, they don't have that traditional rangoon shape, but honestly I don't mind with how good they taste, it's completely fine if they're a little wonky in my opinion. You get 6 crab rangoons for only $3.15! Best deal in town if you ask me~ I highly recommend you try this place out at least once, you'll be sad to miss out on such a life changing crab experience!
