Went to Black canyon yesterday at 4:00 pm. Place was empty! Asked for a table was told it would be around 5:00 for a table. looked around and saw how empty it was, looked at the hostess questioningly, and she said they had reservations coming in. If they had that many reservations coming in, with the place empty, then there would be no way to seat us in an hour. Left and went to Lucille's - the great BBQ place just down Lima Rd.
We were seated near the bar. Couldn’t hear to have a conversation with my husband as the owner and his table were loud and vulgar. I don’t need to hear about bathroom habits and his friend talking about taking her shirt off. Allie was wonderful the food was wonderful. Had he not been in we would have had a completely different experience.

Black Canyon Restaurant offers a consistently excellent dining experience with great value and delicious steaks seasoned to perfection. The staff are friendly, and both the kitchen and dining area are kept spotless. The restaurant's buffet, available on special occasions like Easter Sunday, is also a highlight. Some standout dishes include the Pan Seared Alaskan Halibut and the decadent carrot cake. While recent visits have shown a decline in service, with some customers noting that servers may be less attentive at times, many still appreciate the overall experience. For instance, a customer mentioned the Prime Rib sandwich and fries were a bit pricey at $28, but the burger was reasonable and looked super tasty. The ambiance is particularly enjoyed on the patio, where guests can relax with indirect lighting, good chatter, and a lively atmosphere, making it perfect for celebrations like birthdays. Appetizers such as crab cakes, Bam Bam shrimp, and spicy egg rolls receive positive comments, and salads, especially those featuring fruit on a bed of shredded Brussels sprouts, are highly praised. Overall, Black Canyon Restaurant remains a popular choice in Fort Wayne, with most diners leaving satisfied and eager to return. Some recommend making reservations during peak times, as the dining experience is well worth the price and wait.
