What a lovely find! We had a friend in from St. Louis to visit over the weekend. We took him to several places within an hour's drive of our home. While in French Lick walking around we got hungry and stepped in for a meal. Now I thought to myself, with such reasonable pricing, the serving sizes must be small. Boy was I wrong! Went tonight with my wife. We ordered Grosse Platte, receiving almost every item on the menu. Portions were great and food was excellent. When we arrived 90 minutes before closing, the restaurant was very slow. While we were there, a group of 16 came in, along with several smaller groups. German Café and Restaurant in French Lick, Indiana is a quaint, family-owned restaurant with great food and a friendly staff. The giant pretzel was the best I’ve ever had. The goulash witha rich paprika sauce and spätzle with polish sausage were excellent. The sauerkraut was delicious as were the slaw, and red cabbage. Great little café, worth the drive!
