El Capitan Reviews
This place is shady. The menu prices are not correct, they don't tell you they aren't correct and then you get a bill that is higher than anticipated. Their response is that they can change prices at any time. You're right, you can change prices at any time but you must notify someone about the price increases prior to them purchasing something advertised as a specific price. That's like pumping gas and getting charged more than advertised after you've already pumped it. If they...read full review
Wish I would have video taped my experience. I ordered off the apt menu shrimp tempura. What arrived was small shrimp swimming in some kind of sauce. The manager tried to argue with me and get me to "order" another dish which I refused. When the bill arrived I was surprised to see the charge was not removed. Had to go back to the manager to show her. She refused said she couldn't "over ride" the kitchen I said bring them out they don't want to deal with me. The charge was taken...read full review
I was thinking about coming here with my children, but after all the reviews I have read I will NEVER come here! My children come first, if an employee would say something about my children I would be kicked out. You DO NOT complain about a child who is having fun playing and having fun. You need to retrain your employees and teach them what good customer service is

El Capitan offers excellent seafood and fabulous appetizers in a vibrant atmosphere right in the middle of downtown Hobart. The ceviche verde and filete la marinera have received high praise from customers, and the paella is also a favorite. While the skirt steak was overcooked, the service, particularly from Server Carlos, was top-notch. The cocktails are delicious, and the portions are generous, making it worth the drive. Customers have enjoyed the pastor and fish tacos, as well as the horchata. However, the gnat problem and automatic 15% gratuity on all checks may be off-putting to some diners. Despite these issues, the food remains amazing, with many describing it as some of the best they have encountered. The atmosphere is colorful and fancy, with spacious tables that enhance the dining experience. Parking is convenient, with options available close to the restaurant.
