To all the people that don’t like el Toto but love joes. Rate Acupulco joes five stars and raise the rating. look up EL TORO on maps to give the bad reviews. By posting one star on this YOURE HURTING JOES NOT EL TORO

It’s not Acapulco Joes any longer. The new signage isn’t up yet. It is a good Mexican restaurant that’s definitely worth a try. One surprise is they serve both the AJ’s original salsa and their own.

We were so sad to see Joe's shut down because of all the riot's Downtown, this like many others don't deserve to lose their lively hoods , it's a shame the people involved had no better solutions than to destroy people's lives while screaming for thier lives doesn't make sense. I pray for peace and rebuilding everyday.

This is NOT Acapulco Joe’s!!!! They have replaced the unique menu with a menu you can find at any Tex Mex style restaurant. El Toro’s food is horrible and unsatisfying. I have been going to Joe’s for over 30 years. Since I was a small boy. It was unique. The food, atmosphere and servers. I loved to reread the story of Joe on the menu and how he ended up in Indianapolis not Minneapolis. Then the God Bless America song that would come on at full volume while we ate. I always ordered the six nachos with jalapeños on top. I will miss this place very much and honestly I am a little heart broken. Joe’s was a part of my childhood that I will cherish forever.

We loved Acapulco Joe’s!! It gives a warm good cozy feeling just thinking about the good memories from Joe’s and our past. The last time we ate at Joe’s was 2-3 years ago. We might have been 1 in 3 customers. What astounded us was that a customer was smoking in the restaurant —and allowed too. We hope that Acapulco Joe’s does well under new management and moves back into a good, good place to enjoy a fine meal together for any family or a date night! Best to you Acapulco Joe’s! You are an Indy tradition to us!

The aromatic authentic flavor and smell from this merchant will keep you mouth watery. Nice out door seating spaces, keen streets view. Charming interior artistic design. Friendly staff and great service. It is also called El Toro. Good food served here. Both Mexicans and American favorites Breakfast.

Used to be my favorite restaurant in Indy. Food is normal and average now. Bring back old Joe's or give us the recipes.

Its technically an El Toro now... so sad. I remember eating there 30 years ago when it was the real deal.

Bland would be an understatement. Mexican food for people who don’t like Mexican food

Ok, so this place has changed. But, different doesn't mean bad...or at least it shouldn't. I stopped in here for lunch not knowing the place had changed hands. I liked it! Its not AJ's and we can't expect it to be, but I felt everyone from the host to the busser was really trying to make this a great lunch experience. The food was delicious, the service was great, the price was right and the new look inside is fun! Give El Toro a try if you're downtown Indy and looking for a quick, enjoyable mex-american meal.

I loved Acapulco Joe's menu. We ate there over Christmas, and I was not pleased with the food. After the third bite of gristle in the chicken burrito, I gave up. I don't understand why this new owner can't use the old recipes that built the business. My son asked for a beef chalupa and a chicken one. He got a bean chalupa. We left still hungry and won't probably go back. I am so sorry that the old recipes aren't being used. We did get the hot sauce in small portions. That with chips was the only decent part of the meal.

I was very disappointed that the new owner decided to completely get rid of an Indy treasure. This is now just another plain tex-mex place in Indy. Missed opportunity. Bring back the original menu please.

Anything you have heard about Acapulco Joe's in the past no longer applies. Joe sold the place several years ago, and most of the original recipes were lost at that time. It was recently sold again. The new owners have several other restaurants in the area (look for El Toro). Their food isn't bad per se, but it's nothing special; just the typical Americanized dishes you find anywhere around town. Find a hole in the wall taqueria instead.

Authentic Mexican restaurant; where food is wonderful! Also check out the history behind the restaurant itself.. you'll have to go there to find out for yourself!
