I've been to Cheff JJ's three time's with my job. The food and service is fantastic. So full before you get to desert so pace yourself. Great experience. Must have a reservation.

Blown away. We went for a seafood class and as beginner grillers learned so much about how to purchase, prepare, and grill various kinds of seafood including salmon, mussels, squid, and scallops. And the best part?! We enjoyed them while drinking beer and wine. We were lucky enough to learn from Chef JJ himself. Highly recommend for all interested and learning a thing (or a dozen) about cooking on a Big Green Egg!

This place was so fun. Came with a group and did a fun cookoff. We had chef Lee and he was awesome. Fun competition, not your average corporate dinner out. 5 star. Try it out.

Love the Chef JJ's BGE cooking classes! I always learn so much, and get a bunch of new ideas and recipes.

Attended a beer dinner. Beer was good, food was "midwest mediocre" at best. 5 courses, 4 included meat or fish or some kind. Presentation and plating of food was great, but flavor was classic example of trying too hard and overseasoning in the process. Their smoked brisket lacked smoke flavor, but was salty and overcooked (dry); served more like roast than brisket. Also everyone was on their phones at table, which was rude...mammers 101 at group dinner. Fun evening tasting beer, but otherwise wouldn't go back.

The most amazing dining experience I have yet to encounter!

We have been going here for Big Green Egg classes for several years. We absolutely love them! One of the best parts is that you don't have to have a Green Egg to attend, in fact many people in our classes often don't have one. I think the skills taught are easily transferable to other grills, and you learn a lot about cooking in general as well. A typical class starts off with a fight of beer and a small bite to eat. Then once class starts, there are 4 courses. Each course starts with a bit of a lesson and demonstration (they have nice cameras set up so you can actually see the food cooking). They then give you some time to talk and get to know the other people at your table as they dish and serve you the food. The food is always amazing, the chefs are so knowledgeable, and the service is never lacking! We notice we see some of the same people at classes, so they are clearly doing something right!

I really enjoyed my dinner at Chef JJs! The food was unique and bursting with flavor and the service was excellent. Melissa was so nice and accommodating. The peach crostini appetizer was so good! I thought the fresh basil, honey and peach mixture was a perfect flavor combination. The salad was overdressed and it took away from the other flavors but it still tasted wonderful. I liked the sweet and salty combination with the blueberries and the grilled sugar snap peas. (I believe there were nuts in the salad which wasn't listed.) The main course of ribeye and chicken was so pretty it was like eating artwork. The picture doesn't do it justice! I will say the white barbecue chicken was a little salty, but when eaten with the squash it seemed to help balance out the flavor. The dish also had bleu cheese and the bleu cheese/ribeye combination was PERFECT! One cool thing I wasn't aware of, Chef JJs actually owns urban farm plots so the squash we had for dinner came directly from that! Last but not least was dessert. If you like chocolate and peanut butter you'd be in HEAVEN. It was a pretty rich chocolate cake but oh so good when paired with the pinot noir. Sorry I didn't get a picture of the dessert :( it was gone too quick. I also found one of my new favorite beers! The Scarlet Lane IPA is delightful! It's a hazy IPA and a bit full bodied and heavy so it's not really a great dinner beer if you want to taste off of the flavors your food has to offer. I hope to be back to Chef JJs for another event soon. The staff were great and the food was unique. One thing to note is that it can be hard to find if you aren't familiar with the area. You turn in near the new IU urgent care and it's located in the back.
