El Chavo Mexican Restaurant

Place was awesome when it was El Chavo’s but they are closed now. They were taken over by a place named Chef D’s and it sucks. I miss El Chavo…. Please let me know where the next location opens.

Thank you for the wonderful dining experience at El Chavo 8 restaurant in Indianapolis, Indiana. The tamales with green peppers strips and cheese, topped with hot green sauce and extra cheese, were absolutely delicious. The homemade fruit fresh water was a refreshing touch. The service provided was excellent and we truly enjoyed the authentic Mexican cuisine. We highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking for a taste of Mexico in Indianapolis. The setup of the restaurant was also very impressive. Thank you for a fantastic meal!

Friendly staff, clean place to sit, and the food is SO yummy and authentic. We've had a few tacos and la Chilanga torta. Highly recommend the torta!! We love it!

The absolute worst tacos I have ever purchased. So bad that I threw it in the trash. I ordered the three taco meal. Steak looked boiled, Campechanos was terrible, Pastor was terrible. Their meat looked mushy & boiled. No char from the grill whatsoever. Food was cold. Not even warm. The chips & salsa was good and the Tamarind drink was nice. My Mexican friend that was with me told me to throw it away and said she was so happy she didn’t order anything from them. After throwing my food away, I went about Chicken Kebabs from Mama Saaj International and they were absolutely delicious! So good that I’m currently writing this review as I’m sitting here waiting for my food the 2nd day in a row!

Very friendly! They don’t skimp; the Tinga Tostada came piled with their marinated chicken, and fresh toppings like lettuce, tomato, créma, and what I assumed to be cotija cheese all on top of a crispy corn tortilla. It was accompanied by red and green sauces in which the date it was made was written, assuring you that everything has been made fresh.This place is a perfect spot to grab a bite to make sure you don’t shop on an empty stomach!

Me and my fiancé were there today the food is absolutely amazing probably the best we have had we live a hour away and we’re visiting family and decided it is now our go to spot it is reasonable price great customer service that is as perfect as the food I highly recommend everyone give this a try it was so great we ordered food to go after we ate

The sweetest staff! The steak has so much flavor you can definitely tell it's marinated! I don't eat dairy so I had the steak quesadilla no cheese or sour cream & was very impressed! The pico de Gallo is great on its own! Good portion sizes reasonable prices. Clean tables. Great wait time. It's a must try during your grocery shop or when you just want some good food.

Dietary restrictions: More then willing to accommodate you if you don't want cream or cheese.

I absolutely loved my first time experience here. The customer service was fantastic. Yolanda, who was working the counter provided a friendly experience with smiles and useful info on several items on their menu. Everything was very clean and organized. I tried 3 different kinds of tacos and also the volcan. All of which was absolutely amazing. Presented well and was full of flavor. The homemade chips and salsa were also great. Everything was so good I decided to order more food to take back home with me to Michigan. When my family and I are down in Indianapolis again we certainly will be coming back here. Thanks for the great food and experience.
