I’ve been coming here for three years. The first visit was okay, but over the last two years, their cupcakes have consistently been disappointing. I bought three cupcakes recently, and it was clear they were at least two or three days old—definitely not baked fresh in the store daily. All of them were stale and dry, and the icing was hard and fell off in a dry heap. None were enjoyable, and I won’t be returning. Skip this and go down to Small Cakes—their cupcakes are baked fresh every day and taste that way.

We’ve loved The Flying Cupcake for over the last 15+ years! The cake and icing is the best around. Always worth the price. We even had them at our wedding! Definitely an Indianapolis staple and one of our all-time favorite bakeries 🧁

2 cupcakes at $6 each is outrageous. They were not that great tasting. The fudge icing tasted like it was Betty Crocker. The place was pretty dirty. Used the bathroom and it wasn’t very clean. Very small selection

So thrilled with how our gender reveal cupcakes turned out… and with only 24 hour notice… on Easter weekend! They were so cute, very tasty, and the baker working was so nice and made sure to keep everything a surprise!

Our first time trying this shop, counter service was friendly and helpful. We got peanut butter blackout and pretty in pink cupcakes as well as a toffee brownie. We were unable to finish any of them. They all seemed stale the day we got them. -Peanut butter blackout - where is the flavor? We were expecting a rich chocolate cupcake with a punch of peanut butter frosting, instead we received a baking soda chocolate and a powdered sugar frosting. If we ate this cupcake blindfolded we would not be able to tell what it was supposed to be. -Pretty in pink - The decorations were simple and good, the flavor was definitely strawberry with a butter after taste. The cake was also dense and seemed bogged down with oil. -Toffee brownie - upon appearance it looks “fun”, the top was chaotic, a thick layer of sprinkles, glitter, toffee and surprisingly chocolate syrup. It looked like a child threw whatever they could find on top of this brownie. The brownie was dense and dry, it crumbled like dirt from a potted plant. We couldn’t place any flavor and the bottom was coated with a thick layer of oil once we removed the wax paper. Coming from two people who love cake, these were a big disappointment. Cute decorations in the shop, leaves a lot to be desired in baking quality. We will not be returning.
Don’t think I’ll be back. Took my kids for a little afternoon treat. The cupcakes crumbled when we took our first bite. They don’t offer cups of water so we had to pay over $2 for a bottle of Kroger water. The bathrooms had no hooks for my bag and no hand towels so we had to touch the dirty handle to exit. Overall the special little trip didn’t feel very special.

I would love to share my experience here I have celiac disease and there is not a lot of good choices in a great cupcakes but when I found flying cupcake especially this location they were the bomb celiac friendly definitely!!
