We used Thomas Caterers for our wedding. They run Canal Pointe and the food is absolutely incredible. Highly recommend the Nashville hot chicken!
Great caterer for my wedding! Had our wedding at the Black Iris and worked with this catering company. We had a group tasting at the venue and loved the food, but wanted more options. Lauren Loya worked with us and we created a customized menu to fit exactly what we were looking for! The appetizers were so good! Our favorite was the mini beef quesadilla. For our main entrees, we choose a chicken and beef dish. A concern we had was if the beef would be cooked just right, given how many guests we had and how perfectly it needed to be cooked to. No worries needed, they were excellent! Guests loved the food. Highly recommend!
The Thomas team lead by Lauren and Christina was wonderful at our recent corporate event. The communication was on point, the delivery was on time, and the event service was warm and thoughtful. I especially appreciated the little touches like name tags and custom trays for clearing and passing. Thank you! Looking forward to the next event.
My wife and I loved the venue, it was everything we wanted for our wedding. However, we found the execution lacking due to several lapses in communication. Initial requests and details were either not followed through or had to be reminded. One example was with the champagne addition to our package, which was offered to us at no charge when signing for our wedding date. We then were in communication with two other staff members to assist in planning throughout the process instead of our original contact person. This caused several details to get lost in translation. In our final meeting, the champagne addition was not included in the final details, and when we brought this up, staff mentioned it would be an additional charge. In the end, the situation was rectified, but this was one example where details previously communicated were not reflected in the final plans and all staff members working the event were not on the same page. It took a lot of follow up on our end to ensure all details previously communicated were in our final plans. Other small details overlooked included forgetting to place champagne glasses on our sweetheart table for the champagne toast, and not following through on a request to clean the seats in the willow chapel. During our rehearsal the day before, the chairs were dirty and we were told they would get power-washed prior to the ceremony the next day, however it did not seem like this was completed. Overall, these details did not lessen the experience on our wedding day, but the service left more to be desired in terms of communication and attention to detail leading up to the day.
We had Thomas Caterers during our wedding as part of Black Iris Estate. The food is incredible! Highly recommend the short rib! We decided to just offer one meal choice but it came with chicken and a braised short rib. Of course they had vegetarian and kids meal options and were very good about dietary restrictions. I believe you can offer two main entrees for a choice for an extra cost but we didn't see the point when everyone got both chicken and braised short rib.
The passed hors d'oeuvres during cocktail hour were so good! Not sure if this was a Black Iris touch, but they saved some of each appetizer for my husband and I to have while we were taking pictures during that time.
We went to a tasting 4 months before our wedding which was so much fun! We got to try all the hor d'oeuvres and entree choices. We also had a late night snack which they had a few of at the tasting. They didn't have all the options available because there are so many. We did chicken & waffles which were a big hit with our guests! Definitely a lifesaver late at night.
With their policy, you can't bring in any outside food or drinks, but they were very accommodating for us. One of my bridesmaids keeps Kosher and they allowed her to bring in her own food on the day so she would have something to eat. They just required that she kept it up in the bridal suite, which is totally understandable.
Definitely recommend!
At our wedding venue, we were given our own choice of caterer. After considering quite a few others in the area, Thomas was it. Could not have asked for more with our wedding. Thomas Caterers (namely Lauren!!!) helped my vision come to life. We had a multi-cultural wedding and Lauren helped me create a menu and table scape that would satisfy everything we pictured. Day of, the staff was great. My husband and I were very well taken care of. The food didn’t just look beautiful, it tasted delicious. Only compliments were given from my very picky family. I will definitely use them again in the future for other events. 10/10 would recommend!!
For our wedding, we got so many compliments on the quality of the food that was delivered on our day but also the speed as to which everyone was served. We had around 160 guests and it seemed that no one waited more than 10 minutes to receive their plate once service started. In addition to the food, the cocktails and other beverages that were served were top notch.
The staff was incredibly efficient and on top of taking care of guests. Thomas Caterers and the Black Iris team created a fantastic experience where guests and wedding party were blown away.
Excellent food was served at our wedding. We received so many compliments.
We met with them and they sent us a quote. When we tried to inquiry more and get more information, we were completely ghosted!
Ham was awesome. Chicken was not accepted very well by many of my co-workers. It was ok flavor wise but not very appealing. Rest of the food was standard.

We loved getting married at Black Iris. The venue is beautiful and the staff is amazing! Lauren & Brae were absolutely AMAZING to work with! They made the experience so positive and memorable! They were always there to answer questions and help make the day run seamlessly! Words can’t express how amazing they are!!!
We recently we had our wedding at Black Iris Estate. Overall the venue was beautiful. From the beginning we were sold with the notion that you pay an overall price and everything was included. As we got further along in the process everything started to become itemized to the point where some of these pricing's were astronomical for example being quoted $3,000 for outdoor patio lights and paying $250 for a cake cutting fee. We made it very clear during the final details meeting that if anything went wrong to not disclose that with the bride. We were transparent with the guest count and were extremely disappointed when we found out that we ran out of food very early into the evening. My mom made mention to the food running out to our coordinator and expressed her thoughts. Then the coordinator came over and began to complain to the bride about her mother in laws comments which is not appropriate. When we had asked the coordinator specifically to not involve the bride. In addition to the food running out, we later found out that not all the chairs were set up and were not even in the Willow Chapel. My father in law had to go out and set up chairs on the outside for guests to sit during the ceremony. At the end of the day we ended up having less people than we had originally thought, so there is no excuse to running out of food and not having enough chairs. The lack of transparency, communication, and customer service is very disappointing for the price.
Very gorgeous establishments with killer food!
Whewww, where do I start?Tonight, I experienced a level of disrespect that I have never experienced in my life. I am the booking manager for a local DJ and we were having some contact issues with the folks in charge of the coordination and the venue. So I called the # via google to Canal 337 and it went to Thomas Caterers of Distinction. A lady answered the phone and I began to state why I was calling, she IMMEDIATELY told me that she could NOT help me and that this was not her issue. I explained that I was unable to contact the parties that I needed, so I was trying to get some direction from her or someone that was on site at the venue. She continued to tell me that she could NOT help me and that there was nothing she can do and no one else was in the building, I was trying to clarify and SHE HUNG UP ON ME. I then called back and said "Mam, did you hang up on me" and she said " I sure did, you do not seem to be able to take NO for an answer". I explained that we were trying to rectify a matter for the wedding that took place tonight and she said "well I am trying to get out of this building" and hung up. I waited a moment and called back to attempt to reach someone else and got a gentleman on the phone. I began to express my frustration for the poor communication and explained that I was trying to reach someone with the catering/venue that was on site. He hung up. I waited and called back and the first lady that answered picked up again.. I said "i was speaking to a gentleman and I think he hung up on me". She chuckled and said "well he sure did and were about to do it again", and they hung up again.IN WHAT WORLD does a company as "reputable" as this treat anyone like this? We paid for a million-dollar insurance policy that listed this company on the policy, and you mean to tell me that I could NOT speak to ANYONE and be continuously hung up on? This is completely unacceptable and very unprofessional. Whether they were able to help me or not, there was not the reason why they did not listen to my questions and concerns and why they hung up on me.I would STRONGLY advise that NOBODY use this company, especially if you are a person of color. It's clear that they do not want to service US and have an issue with working on Fridays at 430pm. I am truly appalled at this treatment.
