We met with them and they sent us a quote. When we tried to inquiry more and get more information, we were completely ghosted!

Ham was awesome. Chicken was not accepted very well by many of my co-workers. It was ok flavor wise but not very appealing. Rest of the food was standard.

We loved getting married at Black Iris. The venue is beautiful and the staff is amazing! Lauren & Brae were absolutely AMAZING to work with! They made the experience so positive and memorable! They were always there to answer questions and help make the day run seamlessly! Words can’t express how amazing they are!!!

We recently we had our wedding at Black Iris Estate. Overall the venue was beautiful. From the beginning we were sold with the notion that you pay an overall price and everything was included. As we got further along in the process everything started to become itemized to the point where some of these pricing's were astronomical for example being quoted $3,000 for outdoor patio lights and paying $250 for a cake cutting fee. We made it very clear during the final details meeting that if anything went wrong to not disclose that with the bride. We were transparent with the guest count and were extremely disappointed when we found out that we ran out of food very early into the evening. My mom made mention to the food running out to our coordinator and expressed her thoughts. Then the coordinator came over and began to complain to the bride about her mother in laws comments which is not appropriate. When we had asked the coordinator specifically to not involve the bride. In addition to the food running out, we later found out that not all the chairs were set up and were not even in the Willow Chapel. My father in law had to go out and set up chairs on the outside for guests to sit during the ceremony. At the end of the day we ended up having less people than we had originally thought, so there is no excuse to running out of food and not having enough chairs. The lack of transparency, communication, and customer service is very disappointing for the price.

Whewww, where do I start?Tonight, I experienced a level of disrespect that I have never experienced in my life. I am the booking manager for a local DJ and we were having some contact issues with the folks in charge of the coordination and the venue. So I called the # via google to Canal 337 and it went to Thomas Caterers of Distinction. A lady answered the phone and I began to state why I was calling, she IMMEDIATELY told me that she could NOT help me and that this was not her issue. I explained that I was unable to contact the parties that I needed, so I was trying to get some direction from her or someone that was on site at the venue. She continued to tell me that she could NOT help me and that there was nothing she can do and no one else was in the building, I was trying to clarify and SHE HUNG UP ON ME. I then called back and said "Mam, did you hang up on me" and she said " I sure did, you do not seem to be able to take NO for an answer". I explained that we were trying to rectify a matter for the wedding that took place tonight and she said "well I am trying to get out of this building" and hung up. I waited a moment and called back to attempt to reach someone else and got a gentleman on the phone. I began to express my frustration for the poor communication and explained that I was trying to reach someone with the catering/venue that was on site. He hung up. I waited and called back and the first lady that answered picked up again.. I said "i was speaking to a gentleman and I think he hung up on me". She chuckled and said "well he sure did and were about to do it again", and they hung up again.IN WHAT WORLD does a company as "reputable" as this treat anyone like this? We paid for a million-dollar insurance policy that listed this company on the policy, and you mean to tell me that I could NOT speak to ANYONE and be continuously hung up on? This is completely unacceptable and very unprofessional. Whether they were able to help me or not, there was not the reason why they did not listen to my questions and concerns and why they hung up on me.I would STRONGLY advise that NOBODY use this company, especially if you are a person of color. It's clear that they do not want to service US and have an issue with working on Fridays at 430pm. I am truly appalled at this treatment.

Was at a wedding recently with Thomas catering and it was wonderful. The food was incredibly well done and the staff were awesome. One of the staff, Ruth, took amazing care of our table and joined in on the fun. We truly appreciated her.

Emily and I were very pleased with Thomas Caterers of Distinction and the Black Iris Estate venue. Christina and Emily were very accommodating from start to finish. We never felt pressured into making our choices and enjoyed having multiple options. Regular communication on the milestones (What’s Next) made this process less stressful. Our reception was everything we imagined. Prior. Proper. Planning. Prevents. Poor. Performance!

If I could put 0 stars I would. I’m not naive, I expected some things to go wrong during our reception. Truthfully, I thought well of TCOD up until our wedding day. They gave us two chicken breasts as our meal, we thought we were getting short rib with chicken. This was never clarified by the wedding day coordinator who assumed we wanted two chicken breasts, okay some people make mistakes that’s fine. But afterwards during a call, the coordinator and owner blamed me, the bride. Then later, Vince Early (owner), on a call with my sister - who worked tirelessly to try to get some clarification from him - stated, “This seems like a lot of she said, she said…So who should I call a liar my employee or the bride?”-Vince Early. Not only that but then he engaged in his own he said/she said by saying he spoke to us at our food tasting-no one spoke to us that night. We left confused and at times weren’t even sure which meal we were eating. I should’ve known from that point that I would’ve needed to READ and be responsible for every single little thing, unable to count on the people we were paying to help hold our hands during this process. Terrible. I hope I never have to speak to Vince again. But all I’ve gathered and started to understand is that it streams from the top with this company. They lost our Neon Sign after assuring us that it was on their desk and after I drove there to get it back, the whole timeline was off the whole night, dinner was out very late. I had to tell the coordinator to get people ready for introductions and bouquet/garter toss. Would never recommend Thomas Caterers to anybody and I’ve never written a bad review in my life. Usually very happy despite bumps in the road but can’t look past how terrible this owner has been to work with.

We had our daughter's reception at 337 Canal and had Thomas Catering as our only option. At the reception, they were late getting the food out and the menu was not what we thought we'd ordered because when the final contract was given to my daughter, the menu was not what she had ordered, but she didn't realize it and the planner didn't go through it with her. Apparently there is an upcharge for what we ordered and we were not made aware. We even had it on our invitations. We would have paid the additional fee, but it was never communicated to us. The venue is beautiful. The dinner was so delayed that the band stayed long to give us our money's worth. The food was not very good (over-cooked), but instead of having chicken and beef, it was chicken and chicken. Then we had a conference with our planner and the owner and were told that it was our mistake because of the selection we made. My point is that planning a wedding and reception can be very involved and stressful and you trust your caterer to take you through the process and state to you what they understand your selections to be rather than doing everything by email and making assumptions even though our food selection was clearly on the form we'd provided to them. Very disappointed. I would be very careful with them if you choose them. Make sure you re-iterate what you want, what time things are to occur, check your contract VERY carefully and make sure you have friends to help deliver to the venue and pick up after since they will not vary from their timeline to help you.

Thomas Caterers owned my wedding venue so it came as a package deal and I was very pleased with the end result! Mandy and Emily were our coordinators and were so helpful through the whole process. The tasting event was wonderful and it was a great opportunity to try everything that could and would be offered all in one place while meeting other couples getting married! I wished I was able to pick and choose the appetizers for the happy hour, but my guests loved every single one offered! We had a wedding earlier in the summer that was catered by Thomas and my family and husband knew right away what we wanted for ours and it was delicious! Great team all around on our wedding day!
