Twice I’ve been to Madison when food truck Pakalana’s Poke Wagon had the day off and twice the owner, Isa, made me fresh poke bowls on her own time. That was the story today. 😊
Many food truck owners put love into their food and certainly this is clear in Isa’s case. Bringing poke from her home in Hawaii to Indiana’s southern border, she can often be found at local festivals and farmers markets.
Today we tried the spicy Kilauea Volcano bowl and more mild Pakalana bowl. We enjoyed them while sitting in view of the Ohio River. Both were incredibly fresh, with a delicious variety of flavors and textures.
I am not typically a seafood or sushi person, but I love these bowls!

We got our first poke bowl during Seymour Oktoberfest and I can't say enough good things about it! The food was delicious, fresh, juicy, full of flavor and hands down my favorite dish this year. I highly recommend them and I can't wait to catch them again ASAP! ♡

☆☆☆☆☆ YUM, so delicious! We got to snag a poke bowl during Seymour Oktoberfest and I can't wait to have it again! Fresh, juicy, so many flavors coming together. Chef's kiss, 🫰
We were looking for a light, healthy lunch, and Pakalana's met all of our expectations! The selection of items for the build your own bowl were plentiful and fresh. Our bowl was not only delicious but it was also beautifully presented. The portion size was enough for 2 adults. We had a double portion of marinated ahi tuna over a bed of greens and added edemame, mango, cucumber, avocado, and sushi ginger topped with ginger sesame dressing. Don't let the thought of poke from a food truck on a hot day disuade you from enjoying FRESH poke at Pakalana's!

We loved this place!! The owner was friendly and understanding, and she even took some time to chat with us when there was time with no people in line. The ingredients were fresh. You get to pick 1 base and 1 protein for a small or 1 base and 2 proteins for a large ($18). I loved being able to circle what I wanted on the card she gave us. The outdoor seating area was cozy and perfect for the warm weather. Definitely stop here!!

Absolutely the best poke bowl! Love how easy it is to order as well.
Best poke bowls in the area, even as far as Louisville KY! The service is great and the food is amazing. I’ve been telling everyone about this place!!
It took me a minute to try a Poke Bowl 🍲 as I thought it would be so different - I was chicken 🐔 and could kick 🦵 myself 🤦🏻♀️ WOWZA!!! They are amazing!!! I opt to create my own!! I love the spicy 🌶️ crab 🦀 either way rice 🍚 and then I choose things like ginger, mango 🥭 avocado 🥑 sesame, green onion, spicy mayo and cilantro…but you do you 😜 It’s a very healthy serving! I can make 2️⃣ meals out of it and it’s so fresh!!! The inserts are fun 🤩 and personable!!! It’s a great meal and you are supporting a wonderful small business ♥️
Stopped by for the first time tonight and will definitely be back.

I'm so glad this was my first poke bowl experience! It was the best thing I've eaten in a long time! I can only afford a bowl occasionally, but I can get the spam musubi almost every day! They're so good!
