House of Kobe - Schererville

We chose this local place for my son's high school grad party. I came in to speak to Mr. Kim ahead of time because my older son has Celiac Disease. He was able to eat with no worries. His meal was cooked in the kitchen, and he did not get sick. We all had a fabulous time. We could sit 15 at one table, and we had 2 chefs. It was amazing! The food, as usual, was outstanding-as was the service. There is a huge amount of food for the price. This is one of our fave local restaurants to splurge at.

The food and preparation were good. Only gripe is the temp in the main hibachi room had us all sweating by the time food was ready to eat. I get it a bunch of griddles heat the room up, but I have been to hibachi places in Florida in July and I never left sweating. I would go back but maybe during winter time.

Not impressed at all for the price. The food really wasn't that good. The steak was poor quality. The sauces were not good especially the Yum Yum sauce. The others at the table were disappointed as well. Service was terrible. She hardly came back to the table and when she did she brought extra Saki that I didn't order. It also happened to the other couple at the table. I wouldn't go here again. They automatically added 18% to the bill on a party of 2. Not acceptable.

We stopped in right during lunch and it was perfect timing. Our server was very nice and got everything right, the cook did a nice job preparing everything the way we asked. Very enjoyable time with our kiddos.

A short summary: this place is good, but I wouldn’t need to come back.

Upon walking in, we were greeted with no hassle and quickly seated to our table. The first thing that I noticed was the ventilation as I walked into the dining room. I understand that it’s a hibachi style cooking so some Smoke is going to be expected, but the entire dining room area was filled with it. It was a little offputting, but I understand because most of the tables were being cooked on. When we arrived at our table, we proceeded to sit for about 15 to 20 minutes before our server showed up to take our drink orders and dinner order. Shortly, after that, our chef came out and he did an excellent job with his showmanship and skill craft. Overall, the food was good, but for me, it lacked that traditional hibachi taste. It almost seemed as if they were holding back some of the flavor and spices/seasonings that are traditional to this type of cooking. Whether it was that or any lack of effort, it’s still made a big difference for me and my wife. Our server was nice and friendly and I understand she might’ve had more tables than just us to serve so I don’t knock her for anything. It was great overall, but I wouldn’t want to come back due to the lack of the traditional flavors that I’m looking for in this type of cuisine.

DO NOT use your card at House of Kobe.
After dining there, my credit card information was stolen. This was the ONLY place I used that card, and shortly after, I had unauthorized charges and attempts, including Plymouthtas (twice), Little Bear, and Talon Tunes LLC.
What’s even worse? The exact same thing happened to a friend of mine after eating at this same restaurant. That is not a coincidence.
This is a serious security issue. No meal is worth dealing with fraud, canceled cards, and the stress that comes with it. Customers should feel safe using their payment methods, and that clearly was not the case here.
Protect yourself, use cash or go somewhere else. I will not be returning.

BEWARE THEY STEAL CARD INFORMATION! My family and I went here about a month ago for dinner and everything was okay at first until a few days later my mom found out someone working inside the restaurant stole her credit card information and was trying to use her card all over the place! They are still trying to use it a month later! We also recently found out one of my mom’s friends also got her card information stolen from this place as well!
