Best Prime Rib in the area. The portobello mushroom with crab is a delicious way to start the meal. Then select one of their butcher block or seafood options and end with one of several desserts. You can't go wrong ending with the chocolate covered cow. My daughter loves to pick Kelseys as her birthday meal.

Ordered the rib eye steak and salmon. Both were delicious. The steak was cooked just right. Sever was friendly and helpful with menu items. Don't worry about dirty dishes sitting on the table. The bussers quickly remove them. Something you don't see very often. Would definitely come again.

Me and my family have been going to Kelsey’s steak house for years and never had a bad experience . The food is amazing (like always), service was on point and always a packed house. But after eating Kelsey’s this past Saturday I’ve had a severe case of food poisoning and haven't been able to get off the toilet. I haven't eaten anything since that night and I’ve lost 7 pound of water weight. I will continue to love Kelsey’s steak house but it’s gonna be awhile until I can mentally come back.I ordered:Seafood bisqueKing age prime rib (medium rare) with 10 piece shrimp with garlic mash.

service was good, that's the sole basis for the 2nd star.we drove 45 minutes to be here on a Friday night at 6:00 pm.it was our anniversary.we ordered an appetizer.my wife and I both ordered the bone in ribeye both with soup and mushrooms and shrimp.at 6:00pm on a Friday, a steak house is out of bone in rib eyes. mind you, they only open at 4:00pm....our appetizer and soup arrive at our table at the same time... not sure why...we ate the appetizer first as it was seafood and eating that cold is far worse than soup that's not warm. the appetizer was honestly probably the best thing we ate tonight.the French onion soup comes with scissors to cut the cheese, not sure why, soup was "warm" at best and barely had any cheese on it so scissors were just a decoration.asked to speak to the manager.Ashley came to our table, during our conversation, her initial question was "the owner is here, do you want to speak to the owner?"She went on to tell me "we have no control of our inventory"Then gave me the most condescending, sarcastic apology I have ever heard!I am unsure what her managerial role actually is, however, she made it clear it is NOT inventory, customer service, or any other form of restaurant management.not sure why the owner actually needs her if her first response to an unhappy customer is to defer to the owner.steaks were mediocre, they were cooked correctly, however, not much flavor.shrimp were overcooked"sautéed mushrooms" were actually mushrooms that were steamed in some goop that was like oil mixed with margarine!will not returnValparaiso people, venture a little bit west, hit Gino's steak house in Merrillville or Dyer - or Little Italy in DyerKelseys is supposed to be "the best steak in Valpo"....I've had better food at a Waffle House! It's crystal clear why more than 50% of the tables were empty on a Friday evening

I don’t usually give a 5 star rating, but it was well deserved last night at Kelseys. We were celebrating a retirement for a very special person and it was important that the atmosphere, service, and of course food was good. All of my expectations and that of the person of honor and the group were all very happy and impressed. Melanie was probably one of the best servers I was honored to experience. The perfect balance of being attentive and leaving space for socialization that I have experienced. The Manager of Kelsey’s works hard and knows what he is doing to create a pleasurable experience, which is pretty rare these days. Thank you to Mike, Melanie and the staff and cooks at Kelseys for an extraordinary night!

My wife and I visited about a month ago and I took some time to consider this review before writing. I was more than disappointed overall. A positive was the Onion Soup, it was very good and the scissors were a unique touch to the soup. But most everything else fell far short of hopes/expectations. Drinks are expense, they charged Chicago prices for okay mixed drink. Further, I was up charged for the bourbon used in my Old Fashioned. I was astonished that their Old Fashioned was more expensive than I have paid at Lettuce Entertain You higher end restaurants with no up charge for a signature bourbon. I assume they must use a well Bourbon which only makes the situation worse. My steak. Undercooked. I tried to be clear that I like a Medium Rare on the Medium side. I was told by the server that "they don't like us doing that". I have never gotten that response at any quality steak house/restaurants. I actually learned that nuance from a higher end steakhouse, it lets the chef know more about what is expected...Lastly, our meal with tip was just shy of $200. They charge a fee to use credit card. I do not carry more than $100 in cash...ever. If I had my family of four we would have been closer to $400...who carries that much cash? I am sorry when you have guests with dinners in the hundreds of dollars charging a fee to use a payment method that avoids having to carry excessive amounts of cash is petty. I have never had a "higher" cost restaurant charge me to use my CC. Frankly it is tacky and I would suggest they reconsider this policy.

Lucky us! Family made the trip to Kelsey's Steak & Seafood in Valpo, IN for a St. Patrick's Day dinner...so glad we did. What a treat to enjoy a place that really knows their meat. Ribs and steak for some, but this trip most of us jumped on the corned beef special, a spectacular pairing of some traditional favorites. And, no arm twisting was needed for us to share a few decadent desserts. Beautiful atmosphere and great food; Kelsey's did not disappoint from start to finish. Shout out to our server, Ana, who was so friendly and efficient, handling every request graciously and with a smile...so refreshing. You rock Ana!Kelsey's...we'll be back.
