Ordered carryout which I was told 15-20 minutes. So after waiting 15 minutes I drove there. Once I arrived I was told "2 minutes" and my order would be ready, 22 minutes later I was finally given my food. What made matters worse is that it wasn't good either. The fish tacos tasted very old and the beans were all over the rest of the food because of how it was packaged. I won't be back.

First time visiting. We were there for dinner last Friday night. It is a lovely environment. Our server was fantastic. Menu was great. Chips and salsa were delicious. House margarita was very good. My husband had the lobster tacos that were very good, and tried one barbacoa taco that he thought was wonderful. I had the steak and shrimp dinner that was also terrific. The steak was so tender, came with 4 very large shrimp and grilled peppers and small salad. The sauce was very good. Homemade corn tortillas were on point. Overall great experience and we look forward to coming back soon. Highly recommended!

Exceptional upscale Mexican. You should be eating here instead of downtown.

The food is always amazing! There is a very nice man who plays guitar and it.....well it's not very good. He uses distortion on a solid state amp and it sounds awful. It's very loud and distracting. He is the reason the place is not packed during dinner hours. No one wants to hear " we are the champions" during a nice dinner with their spouse. Everything else is fantastic though! It is 5 stars without the guitar man. Ask for the coconut rice!

Mexican food for non Mexican people, enough said. Absolutely no flavor and their salsa tasted like water. Awful.

Wonderful hidden gem right in Valparaiso! Although Valparaiso has great options for Mexican dining, this place outranks them all. This is REAL AUTHENTIC Mexican food prepared with an eye to detail and care. Every dish I tried was crafted with full flavor and presented in simple but tasteful style. The tacos were absolutely dynamite, even the kids steak taco was ridiculously good. Velero's offers adult beverages that are decently priced and very well made without skimping on the alcohol. I loved trying the different types of rice that are offered with the meals as well. If you've never had or tried coconut rice, treat your taste buds and give it a go. There was live music when I went but I don't know if they have that there every day. Parking is a little tight and difficult to navigate if you have a large vehicle so beware. This is a must try if you want something different than the run of the mill Mexican dining around Valparaiso.

One of the best restaurants in Valparaiso! Love it! Great food and service!! I have been 3 times, have enjoyed 3 separate dishes, all wonderful!

A hidden gem in an unsuspecting & inconspicuous location in the north central area of Valparaiso. This isn't your typical americanized tex-mex fare (e.g., no ground beef tacos, nachos, or endless flow of free chips & tomato salsa); it is high-end, authentic Pueblo-region cuisine (read: LOTS of seafood, as well as terrestrial proteins); the plated offerings are as much edible artwork as they are culinary delicacies, with focused precision to detail. Real Mexican food made by real Mexican chefs, who put as much love for patrons into every single dish as they would their own family. The same goes for the cocktails hand-made to order by mixologists who aim to impress with each individual creation, poured with care & an acute focus on presentation. Every first-time guest is treated like an esteemed dignitary; dine here more than once, & you'll find yourself being treated like revered family. Unassuming from the outside, you'll find yourself transported to a beautiful fine dining locale in another part of the world once you set foot in the door. That will change, though, as Veleros is about to move to a much more prominently visible location in Valparaiso early next year. And yes, the entrees on the menu may appear to be "pricey," but are fair & competitive when compared to other established & more well-known dining venues in Valpo & the greater Northwest Indiana area. And if you're budget conscious, take a discerning look, just a bit closer: there are daily specials & plenty of offerings that equate to about what you'd spend per person at national fast-food chain drive-thrus. (Ask your server for recommendations & suggestions! You will likely find them to be friendly, knowledgeable, & professional.) Obviously, my bias being that I am an ardent fan, I could effortlessly rave for many, many more paragraphs about Veleros Mexican Cuisine of Valparaiso. But your own experience is going to outweigh any verbiage & prose that I could continue to weave, so the best thing to do is to simply visit & enjoy this unparalleled hidden gem in Valparaiso yourself. First time recommendations: try the house margarita or sangria to drink, the trio sampler for an appetizer, the al pastor or pollo tacos as an entree with a side of coconut rice, & the cajeta flan for dessert.

The tacos have a weird spice to them. The food very overpriced. The servers were super nice and service was great. The chips are good and rice as well. Horchata tastes very much of vanilla. It doesn't have the cinnamon flavor. Overall more of pretty food then genuinely homemade mexican food

Lots of choices across the board, some quite unexpected (like lamb tacos). Nice atmosphere; live music, well lit dining area. Knowledgeable server and attentive service came along with a sample plate of potato filled taquitos. Chicken burrito very good and more than enough while the cheese dip w/chips was even refilled after the main course arrived. Worth the visit!

Wow were we impressed by how upscale this place was. I picked a restaurant walking distance from downtown to eat at while seeing the holiday lights (techincally this was walking distance, but in the dark and cold my 6 year old was unimpressed by the walk). Inside is lovely, and there was live music on Saturday evening. We felt comfortable being there with a kid, but it also looked like a few tables were out for a date night. The music was a little loud, so we chose to sit in the back where it was fine. It was really cold though. The food was delicous. Started with complimentary potatoe flautas, which were fine. (They had sour cream on them which I hate. I wiped it off, but who knows how much more I would have liked them without it.) -Guacomole trio with traditional, pineapple, and mango guacomole's. All of them were great, but the pineapple was trully outstaning. I plan to return here because of how amazing the pineapple guacomole was. -Vegetarian fajitas with flour tortillas (no sour cream) and they were great, with a side of coconut rice which was just okay to me. -Kids quesadilla with Mexican rice, great expect that it had sour cream and crumbled cheese on top. This is great for fancy adults, but picky kids it's easier if they know exactly what to expect. Mexican rice was great. --Mojito was fantastic. Great service! Delicious food, and lovely space! Kid and baby friendly- They have a kids meal, high chairs and booster seats, and while they don't have a changing pad the bathrooms are both clean, large, single user spaces with good enough floor space for someone to lay out a changing mat.

The order taking process was easy once I called in. The rice was really good but the tacos could have used seasoning and needed flavor.
