very good food and very good people
We happened to be in Baxter and stopped in for what was a very pleasant surprise for us! The food at Lion Rojo is the best Mexican food I've had in the 4-State area since I left Phoenix 47 years ago! The chicken chimichanga, rice, and frijoles were yummy, the service was great, and the prices are very reasonable! I'm just sorry we live 30 miles away! We'll be back-it's worth the trip!

Lion Rojo is a top contender for best Mexican food in the state and might be the best meal of the year. The salsa, queso and guac are homemade and fresh, and the beans and meat are rich with such good flavor. The grilled chicken salad is delicious. Staff are friendly, attentive, accommodating and very nice. Prices are very reasonable, with awesome value on the menu items. The place is nice and clean with a tasteful interior space and a great atmosphere. On a Thursday, guests might catch free sopapilla and ice cream day. Travelers on Route 66 highly recommend stopping by. It is worth the drive and worth the stop. Everyone is treated like a local, not someone passing through.
