I recently visited the Derby Panera Bread with my family—a group of eight. While placing our order, the staff member assisting us (a woman with red hair) came across as somewhat abrasive, giving the impression that we weren’t entirely welcome. It wasn’t a major issue, but it did set a disappointing tone for the visit.
After we finished our meal, I approached the front counter to ask if they had a to-go container for soup. The same staff member handed me a clear bowl that looked more suitable for salad. I asked, “Is this for soup?” and she responded curtly with, “Your guess is as good as mine.” I was taken back by the rudeness of her reply and didn’t catch her name, though I wish I had.
Just before she returned with what appeared to be the salad bowl, I made eye contact with another staff member and we exchanged polite smiles—just a simple, courteous moment of human interaction. I’m not sure if he saw what happened next, but it was a lot to take in.
Afterward, I returned to my family, and one of them mentioned that to-go bowls were available at the pickup counter. I hadn’t seen them earlier because I was playing with my nephew for his birthday when our food was brought out. I went over and found a to-go bowl, but there were no large lids available. I asked the same staff member who had smiled at me earlier—a man with long grey hair—and he was extremely helpful and friendly, just the kind of service you hope for every time you visit.
Overall, it was a disappointing visit. I hope management will take steps to improve customer service training so future guests feel more welcome and respected.

Every time I have gone here, they get my order wrong. I do not do any modifications! I just get the basic Broccoli cheddar bowl and cream of chicken bowl… How do you guys mess such a simple, yet overprice, order up every-single-time??? I go here during my work lunch so I cannot drive the 15 minutes BACK to get it corrected! If I call, they will offer up a “gift card” that never comes! Why even bother? I am not exaggerating when I say EVERY TIME…

Since when does Panera only have two choices of bagels at 7:45 in the morning? And then put the spread in the bottom of the sack under all of the bagels. Love having to dig through the bag to get to the spread. Terrible service. Should’ve just gone to Chick-fil-A and got the chicken biscuits. They don’t run out of those.

This place is a joke. I ordered 15 mins ahead showed up 2 min behind and waited 30 mins In the drive through. I had time to go INSIDE GO TO THE RESTROOM AND COME BACK OUT TO MY CAR and the line never moved. Never again will I be back to this restaurant

We like Panera’s food but not just sometimes, EVERY TIME we get food to go there, they never get the order right. Any modifications you make to a sandwich never happens, they always forget stuff that you ask for. Sucks having to go back all of the time to get what you were already supposed to get.

Staff friendly, food okay not worth the money. They had a special two for 8:90,it was not that price. We paid almost 11 dollars for two. Drinks 4 dollars 💵,I think it over priced. And this is one of the places I didn't find a jalapeno bread 🥪

Two out of the 4 orders were missing ingredients. Forgot the drink order when picking up through the drive-through. Went inside and was not greeted by anyone at the front. After waiting a few minutes, I had to go to the pick up area to find a person to help and get the drink. 50$ for 3 salads and a sandwich and a drink. Wild. Kudos for whoever owns this joint their profit must be crazy.

Hands down the worst place to order take out. I have never been to the Derby location and haven't had something messed up or forgotten. The prices are outrageous for the portion of food u receive. The employee's in the drive thru are nice a talkative but tone that down a little and make sure everything I've ordered is in the bag or I at least receive it.
Don't door dash from this Panera. They always either forget an item or mess up your order. Twice in a row now, I haven't received a bread bowl and last order my wife only got half a sandwich when we ordered a full one. Get it together people.
Rant aside, the food is delicious. Highly recommend the new chili.
