9/16/25 Just ate there, 5 of us. chicken fried chicken, meatloaf, steak fingers and hot beef sandwich. excellent waitress, very attentive. Good food!
this will be a must stop every time we drive from Mississippi to Colorado!!
We come here once a week and it's always awesome service and food!

Cattlemans Cafe Hays is a small town mom & pop place, a lovely spot with amazing homemade food and happy service. The chicken is crisp, corn is delicious, and the fried okra is a must-try. They make their own dinner rolls, and the pot roast dinner is awesome. The seasoning is so important and Cattleman's Cafe knows what that is. Ribeye was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Ribs were fall off the bone tender and flavorful. And the ONION RINGS... wow! Batter dipped, with flavor and a big plate of them to boot. The pot roast was delicious and also included super flavorful carrots and potatoes that had been roasted with it. The rolls are served hot and a little crispy around the edges. The music can be a bit loud, but the service is top-notch. Immediate seating and server was taking good care of us! Great home cooking. Huge glasses of sweet tea. Food was well seasoned. Meatloaf and chicken fried steak was delicious. Very inexpensive great food for a very reasonable price. With generous portions and reasonable prices, it's a go-to place for travelers on I-70. The value was fantastic, with a bill for a family of 4 being $48. There is seating both inside & out. Our staffy was allowed to sit with us at an outside table.
