McLain's baked the cakes for our wedding day and they were both incredibly delicious (All of our guests loved them)! We did our cake tasting at home and had a blast trying all of the amazing flavors to find the perfect combination (We settled on chocolate with espresso buttercream and almond with vanilla buttercream. Throughout the planning process, the staff at McLain's was also very helpful. We can't recommend McLain's enough!

absolutely love this place, the salmon toast is my go to but you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. their salads are also really good. everything comes out so quick and is pretty affordable for the quality they provide!

My aunts hosted my bridal shower at McLains in Lawrence, and their team made the event amazing! The space was perfect, the food was incredible and the service was above and beyond. They even went the extra mile and portioned our leftover food into take-home boxes for all of the guests! If you live in the area, I highly recommend McLains for your bridal (or baby) shower. Additionally, I also purchased our wedding cake from this McLains as well. We got soooo many comments from guests on how delicious it was. Thank you, McLains for helping make my wedding season that much sweeter. :)

They are great about letting me know what I can order/adjust for gluten and dairy allergies. I tried the Southwest Salad with the Dill dressing (gf/df) yesterday and it was so fresh and yummy!

I've been going to McLain's bakery in Kansas City my entire life. I have mostly excepted the changes but I don't frequent it near as much as I did the original location. I have never been to the one in Lawrence before today. It's terrible if you are wanting baked goods. Everything we bought off of the shelves was stale. Very disappointing🥲
I ordered a delivery to be dropped off and the person who took my order was so incredibly helpful! They even included some dog treats and wrote my dog’s name on his own little package, how cute! The pastries were delicious, definitely give the blueberry cheese coffee cake a try. Overall super happy with my experience and can’t wait to order from them again!

Highly disappointed with my experience here as I was highly recommended to use them for my wedding cake. I had a great encounter when I reached out regarding my inquiry. I gave a photo of one of their own cakes for reference of what I wanted. We had agreed on it and I was told exactly what to expect. Come the day of pickup I sent out my sister to pick up the cake. She said the staff member that brought out the cake was very odd and seemed to hide the front of the cake before setting it into the car. She sent me a photo of the cake and I was baffled that the staff member would let that cake leave the store looking the way it did. I called and told her how unhappy I was and she offered to bring it inside and fix it. So 30 minutes later I get a follow up picture with the so called fixed cake and I was still unhappy with it but with no time to spare getting the cake to the venue I had to deal with it. I will say they did give me a partial refund after I called back and complained about it. But that does not excuse the lack of attention to the simple cake I asked for and the monstrosity they originally were going to let us leave with. I was thoroughly embarrassed by my wedding cake and I hope none of my guests looked too closely to it because it was an eye sore. Not to mention the cake was yellow and not white which is not what we had discussed either. I cannot recommend this place since they seem to not value all customers and ruining my wedding morning with this.

Asked for a gender reveal cupcake and was never told the order was ready and they closed at an unusually early hour so when we went to pick them up (in case it was ready) they were already closed anyways.

Ordered biscuits and gravy with a side of potatoes and scrambled eggs. Didn’t have time to come back for them to fix it. They gave me over easy eggs instead. It was terrible and I didn’t eat half the meal. Waste of money and disappointing.
