I don't mind paying 20 dollars for a salad but when I do I want it to be perfect. My steak salad was far from that. The meat was tough. The spinach had several old slimey pieces, and the other bits were sparse. No bueno!

Food was amazing, pork belly burnt ends appetizer was next level and the korean chicken was delicious.
Our server Arthur was the cherry on top of our experience. He was just lovely - such a great demeanor, knowledgeable and a pleasure to interact with.
Merchants is 10/10 worth a visit

This is a cool place to eat. The service is awesome and the food came out quickly and had good flavor. There is an extensive beer selection. I’m no fry enthusiast, but they were the only thing I’d skip.

My 2 daughters, 3 grandkids, and I ate here for brunch. The variety of dishes offered surely will appeal to a variety of tastes. We are pretty eclectic so ordered very different dishes, all of which were loved by the recipients! We shared the donuts as a table - sooo good!!

Recently visited and noticing some issues with staff. Overconfident servers who think they can take orders without writing things down then getting your order wrong. It's not that much trouble to just write things down and repeat orders to the customer as a double check. Also noticed a wait staff member attempting to toss menus into a basket, missing on multiple occasions, not noticing and the menus ending up on the floor causing a slip hazard.

Fresh food purchased from local farms and vendors. The Bloody Mary mix was so fresh and light. The potato soup was unexpectedly (for me) pureed yet incredible. The biscuit and gravy on the brunch menu was fluffy with crisp edges. Definitely worth going with friends who are willing to share samples, because everything was soo good.

Had a family birthday dinner here and the food was excellent. After we left, a member of our group realized she'd lost a ring that held a lot of sentimental value. She called Merchants and they were not able to find the ring right away. After they closed a staff member named Rose looked everywhere for it, even searching through trash. And she found it! We are so grateful to Rose for her kindness and diligence. And very grateful to Merchants for hiring such quality human beings. ❤️ Thank you!!

Vegetarian options: This is one of the best veggie burgers in town.

This morning we were sat on the patio and there were only 2 other tables of people outside when we sat. One left within 5 minutes of us sitting down. We got coffees when we first sat down, but our server then took almost 30 minutes to come take our food order. Meanwhile, 3 other tables were sat, all of which we watched get their food order put in and 2 got their food already before we even got to order ours. At that point, we were pressed for time so we asked for the check, which took us another 10 minutes to get. We were there for almost an hour and saw our waiter a total of 4 times - one to take our drink order, one to bring our drink order, one to ask for the check and one to bring the check. I'm a server myself, so I understand being busy, but it shouldn't take an hour of sitting at a place to only receive two cold brews. We're thoroughly disappointed and won't be back.

We went for appetizers because we weren't very hungry. They have some terrific options. Well stocked bar. Plenty of beer and wine options. We sat outside and enjoyed the nice evening. Liza was our server. She did a great job. Highly recommended

So good! Ate here for apps and came back a SECOND time in one weekend to try their brunch . Everything was amazing absolutely slapped

The building is clean and modern. I love the artwork on the walls. The service was impeccable. Shannon was our server. She didn't miss a beat. I noticed the staff helped each other, ALL of our food came out at the same time, which was nice. Now the food! Amazing! They locally source their ingredients, and it shows. We started with deviled eggs, pork belly, and Manchego cheese bites. I had the burger, it was delicious. Also tried the cornbread BLT, the bun and tomatoes were the stars of that dish. The Bloody Mary was on point! I would highly recommend going here.

Merchants is my absolute favorite place to eat in Lawrence. The food is always incredible whether breakfast, lunch or dinner. Their brunch menu is amazing too! The ambiance is great, service is always top quality. I love that they source ingredients locally. Their specials are unique and delicious. 10/10, love eating here, always.
