On Sunday after Church, I decided to take the family out to lunch vs. our normal Sunday BBQ plans. TRH was the place of choice to the delight of most. When I say family, I mean kids, grandkids, friends that attended church with them etc. All together we numbered about 20 people. Large meal gatherings can get a little crazy both on the guest and the host end of things, so I was a bit apprehensive. We did a mobile check in for the waitlist and I was extremely happy that once we arrived, we were seated right away. Although they couldn't seat us all at one table, they gave us 4 booths, two across from each other. I was hoping for a couple of servers, but they just sent one. She did an absolutely amazing job of taking care of all of us. From drinks for ages 4 through 62 to spreading appetizers over 4 booths full of hungry people. She took our food orders and without even having to ask, she made sure the young ones got their orders first. Our food was out plenty quick, and all was quiet for a while. No one's glass set empty for long, nor did empty plates and baskets pile up on the table. I could tell she was a bit worried about how the check was going to be split as we had several families spread over 4 booths. I could see the look of relief sweep over her face when I told her it was all on one and she went back to smiling once again. I still believe in a performance-based tip as far too many servers have come to view it as an expectation rather than a reward for their good service. I am also usually only a 10-15 percent tipper, but left her (Brianna-I believe) a much more generous tip than that for her service and attitude were unrivaled in today's fast paced and "all for me" world. As we got up and got ready to walk out my jaw about hit the floor when I saw each of my sons (x2) reach in their own wallets and throw an extra $20 on top of the signed receipt. It was welled deserved and that's the first time in I don't know how long where we've left a restaurant and everyone was still happy. Great Job.

Five+ Stars for Texas Roadhouse in Lawrence, KS! First time eating at a Texas Roadhouse in Lawrence, and WOW, what an experience! From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel like VIPs. Seriously, they were SO friendly and welcoming, it felt like we were regulars. If I don’t get the same royal treatment next time I visit a TRH back home in Dallas, I don’t want it! (lol) The atmosphere was lively, and the food? Absolutely delicious. Everything hit the spot. Huge shoutout to the team there for going above and beyond to make our visit special. If I'm ever back in Lawrence, this will be my first stop. Highly recommend!

Malorie and the rest of the staff were top notch! Our food was absolutely delicious and she even sent us home with some extra rolls and cinnamon butter. Thanks for making our experience wonderful, Malorie! Keep up the great work!

I honestly don't know why it has such great reviews. Yes, the bread is fantastic, but it doesn't make up for the rest of the menu.
On my first visit, wait time was around 15 minutes. Enjoyed some of the spelled peanuts they have available near the entrance. It was busy, but not an extremely busy night. Our server, brought drinks in a timely manner, took our order and after tasting the famous bread, I thought the rest of the food was going to be great... But nope! The steak ordered was overcooked even that the Server explains the different steak temperatures available.
My steak was chewy and seemed like it was steamed and grilled later or left under a lamp for a long time... My friend's pulled pork sandwich had a vinagre flavor to it and was not tasty at all. Not even my kids chicken wings were crispy. The steak fries were saggy and the cheese on them seemed like it was microwaved. Not a good experience.
On the second visit... yes! I decided to give it another chance per my father-in-law's request... the same thing happened. I ordered a different cut of steak and again the same experience... Saggy steak, overcooked, tasteless fries. Told the server about my steak and her response was to apologize and offer to change my dish for something else. Requested to have the steak replaced for something fresh. The new steak came over, again overcooked.. Requested a to-go box and the check. I was charged for the steak the Server offered to replace. Did not want to complain any more, paid and left. Not coming back.
It is sad that this place is one of the only steak houses left in Lawrence.

The bread was good, though...

We really enjoy the rolls and cinnamon butter for starters. The Caesar salads were fresh and cold - we get the dressing on the side because they seem overdressed otherwise. The sirloin steak was tender and juicy, cooked perfectly medium rare, as was the generous smokehouse burger. The loaded mashed potatoes were creamy and delicious. The server was welcoming and checked on us several times. We like to go here for the great M-Th 11-3 lunch specials, plus it's a bit quieter. It's so loud when full, and add in the sometimes obnoxiously loud music, that we can't have a conversation, much less hear the server.

Over the past year or so the steaks just haven’t been that great. They are cooked properly and all but they are not like they used to be. I did take out this time but even when we have dined in same thing.
