Today I have the shepherd's pie special for lunch and it was delicious. I especially liked the fresh ground lamb, fresh ingredients, attentive service, nice atmosphere. I if you haven't been for a while I'd highly recommend trying the holiday mules and specials created by Chef Mark, and recommend reservations for groups. You won't be disappointed. I've greatly enjoyed every meal that I've had these last few months. Well worth the trip!
I love this old hotel. The rooms are very spacious with a separate bedroom and sitting room. The bar is lively and the bartender is great. I stay here every time I go to Lawrence. It is located near very good restaurants and shops and I love exploring downtown Lawrence

The food was average. Unfortunately there were a lot of small details that missed the mark: greasy salt and pepper shakers, cold eggs, servers auctioning food when it arrived. The condiments and coffee come in very small containers, so it would have went a long way to leave some extra coffee on the table.
