Food was delicious. The coffee on the other hand….. horrible. I ordered a lavender latte with oat milk and they served it to me in a GLASS!! So weird. why not serve it in a mug? The latte was not good at all. Had a very weird flavor. I get lavender lattes all the time and this one was odd. Who serves hot coffee in a glass? The service was meh.

Oh, Roost. I don't know what's happened. Our recent visits have not been good. The wait staff is disorganized and inattentive and the food is old or partially cold. I'm sad! I hope management can improve the customer experience.

Terrible service. The food was mediocre, and the coffee is really great quality, but the service staff ruined the entire experience for me. Many times when I'd go to the self serve coffee bar, there'd be no clean spoons, and almost completely empty pots. Our server paid little to no attention to us. She asked if we were ready to order pretty much as soon as we sat down. I asked for a couple of minutes, but she was nice enough to give us twenty. After we she finally took our order, that was the last time she talked to us. She didn't check to see how we were doing on water or anything. We waited way too long for the food, that was brought to us by a different server, and it was cold by the time we ate. Our server never came back to check how the food was for us. This was on a Tuesday morning, no where near a packed restaurant, so there is no excuse. Will not be returning.

We liked our food. The potato cakes were like my mom makes. Very nostalgic to have yolky eggs with potato cakes. I really liked the different coffee options including that decaf, which was delicious. The waitress was very helpful with her suggestions. I want to go back and try the eggs Benedict, they looked really good too.

Totally underwhelmed. Sit down restaurant, and you have to serve yourself coffee. You lost me right then. The serve was unfriendly and inattentive. And last but not least, me over easy eggs were over cooked. And had my server been paying attention, I would have sent them back to the kitchen. Sorry but I would not recommend this place. ?

You could never get sick of the sick tea. The apple butter jelly and French toast is a taste of heaven.

The Roost is a good breakfast place. BUSY, very busy. For two people on a Saturday morning around 10 am, we waited 40 minutes. Which is pretty normal I would think. We did hear the hostess tell larger parties that it could be upwards of an hour, maybe 2 hours of a wait. The front area can make you feel like a sardines in a can with it being so packed.I suggest if you are going downtown for any particular reason aside from breakfast, go get your name on the wait list and they can text you when a table is ready; and you can go do your errands or shopping. The food is reasonably priced for downtown Lawrence. The coffee is good. The sausage is extremely delicious, probably some of the best I've had. The rosemary breakfast potatoes are also quite yummy. The folks working there are kind, and attentive. They're rather efficient at getting everything cleaned up, and ready for the next group, as well as getting food and drink to you.
