Not my cup of tea. Place not appropriate for a business meeting in the morning. The music was too loud.

My stop at Shack Breakfast & Lunch was a great start to the day. The place had a bright, upbeat vibe, and the breakfast came out fresh and colorful. My plate was hearty but well balanced, and the coffee kept flowing. It’s a fun brunch spot where the food tastes as good as it looks.

A friend was visiting and since I hadn't tried this place before, we decided to check it out. The vibes seemed cool and the variety of food was up our alley. I ordered the biscuits and gravy and a coke and my friend got coffee and one of the skillets.
It took a bit for my drink to come out and after a few minutes our (actually very nice!) server let me know they had to change out the filters or something so I ordered a different soft drink. No big deal but it was weird I was waiting that long because not a lot of ppl were there at that time and we were right by the kitchen.
Our food came out and everything looked good. I took a bite of the biscuit and...it wasn't even warm. Nothing on my plate was - not the hashbrowns, not the sausage, nothing. So I asked our server if she could have it warmed up. I waited maybe another 5-10 minutes and a completely new plate of hot food came out. Maybe the timing was off with my friend's skillet and my meal? Because her food *was* fresh and hot.
My friend were in conversation as we and my drink got low and our server wasn't really around. (I think she did eventually come around and get me a refill.) Dirty dishes were kind of in the way now and weren't removed even after the check was dropped off and my friend and I were still talking.
It was all just strange because it wasn't busy and the server, though nice, was mostly inattentive. Though I would like to visit again as the food was tasty, I'd probably go at a different time of day.

Ordered the Notorious BNG and the scrambled eggs were over cooked/burnt, the sausage and bacon were the worst we’ve ever had, and the only reason given was: sorry we are just really busy. The walls and table areas are covered people’s drawings and it makes the place look disgusting. We live right around the corner, but you would have to pay me to eat here again!

The food was all really dry and flavorless. (Waffles, Protein Bowl, Eggs). The syrup is so thick it has to be stirred to pour correctly, definitely fake. The server was a younger guy who only checked on us twice (did not offer refills) and stood around the rest of the time.
You are better off driving a little further into Overland Park to Urban Egg.

THE Breakfast/lunch place. We have to make the drive after soccer games and when I don't feel like making breakfast. Superb food, fun atmosphere, great service! Super duper busy but its no surprise when you actually taste their food. They have the best skillets and pancakes around. Skip Ihop for sure! Bathrooms and dining room are clean, and the restaurant is cheery and inviting. The coffee is so good, and they even have boozy drinks for those that partake. I am obsessed with their Corned Beef n' Hash skillet, and my husband likes the Gringo Killer skillet. The kids always clean their plate. Don't forget to sign the wall!

We love having a good breakfast and The Shack does not disappoint. Plenty of menu options and the names of the food incredibly creative.
I ordered a Make a Grown Man cry burrito and the wife ordered an Everything tastes better in Denver omelette. Both were amazing and had great flavor. Had to order a pancake because I was craving one and it was good. The pancake was big but not as fluffy as I like. It was still enjoyable.
Go check out The Shack for a great breakfast meal!

I ordered a chocolate chip pancake. Ate a few bites and then found this inside the pancake.
Mid food. Bland- no flavor… looks good.
Cozy. But floors aren’t swept and tables rarely clean before they sit you down. Service is okay… could do a better job at checking in on your table to see if the food is good or if you need more of something.
I had the breakfast skillet that had the works! It was very good and fresh. I loved the inside of it. It was large with plenty of sitting. If someone was by themselves they had a large bar you could also sit at. It was very clean, I enjoyed the vibe and atmosphere. My server was Jade and she was amazing! She was attentive to each of her tables and made sure we all had everything we needed! I really loved it that they give you a coffee carafe at your table as well as a large glass cobtainer water filled with water! This will be one I will return to when in this area!!!

Shack Lenexa food quality has gone downhill since opening. Maybe they've changed vendors, or perhaps the cooks or both. Regardless, our last two visits we have had to send back our food: both times it was barely warm.
Sausage patties have a strange texture to them as do the scrambled eggs.
Last two visits they appeared to be way understaffed as well and the apathy of the servers - and manager - is pretty obvious.
It's a shame. This place used* to rock.

Not sure what has happened with this place. We used to love it, but the last few times we've been there have been mediocre at best. It wasn't very busy this morning, but we sat there for a good 10 minutes before we saw our server. Another 20 minutes before our food was delivered, and it was barely warm. He took it back and returned pretty quickly with new dishes. The B-N-G was so salty, I couldn't eat it (and I like my food salty). The bacon was a weird rubbery texture, and the scrambled eggs were just plain weird and hard. When the server asked if I wanted a to go box, I told him it wasn't very good, so he sent the manager over. She was nice enough to comp the meal but didn't ask what was wrong with the food. We won't be back to this location any time soon.
