Best Chinese food I’ve had in KC hands down. I went into China Chef because of their great reviews. No line, no wait, but it was obvious their take-out business is booming. I had many questions, general things like what veggies come in certain dishes and can they make non-spicy dishes spicy? The extremely patient and kind young man helping me was very knowledgeable, I’m assuming family-love that! I settled on beef&broccoli (spicy), kung pow chicken, beef fried rice, crab rangoon and vegetable spring rolls. Enough food for a 5 person family but going home to just my husband and myself!! It took maybe 10 minutes and I was on my way.Once home we had ourselves a lovely feast! The beef and broccoli and kung pow chicken comes with steamed rice which is a must for me. Husband absolutely fell in love with the fried rice. Both appetizers were awesome after I threw them in the air fryer for a little warmup. We ate Chinese food for THREE days. First of all, it was that good! Secondly, there was that much of it! We’ve had China Chef three or four times now and every time it’s awesome. I’ve settled on spicy beef and broccoli and husbands go to is beef fried rice. However, in my humble opinion, you can’t go wrong with anything there. Delicious food and friendly service!

Okay, this is a take out place with one table inside and a bistro set outside. You order here because the food is fantastic. The spices are used to enhance the food, not overwhelm. The sauces are fresh and sublime. Good quality meats and vegetables are used. I eat this food at least 3x a month.A hidden gem? No. So many of us value this place, but it is never too busy for a take-away order. Yum!

We’re super picky on Chinese food, the only place we’ve ever loved is tryakki out of Lawrence when we were in college. This place has FINALLY ended our search for a south KC metro replacement. They’re clean, the food was very fresh, and it was very good. The honey chicken is actually honey chicken, not the soy sauce ick other places try to pass off. The rangoons are perfect, not too sweet, not salty, perfectly crispy. So glad to have found our Chinese place ❤️

Okay me being from CHICAGO aka ChiTown aka ChiCity aka ChiRaq This place is pretty legit. New York and Chicago have the best Chinese food and I’ve tried many places in Johnson county and KCK but this place here reminds me of home. We don’t put peas in our fried rice and we add scallions but the flavors are there the freshness …. Chicago has a bit more boldness but either way delicious we also put a little bit of peanut butter in our eggrolls. That’s what makes Chicago eggrolls so special. You can’t really taste it just adds flavor. Anyway this place is actually good give it a try! I didn’t see any egg foo young on the menu but that’s also really popular back home
Ordered lunch specials for the family and steamed dumplings for me. Everything was yummy and I loved the dumplings sauce.

Very friendly, fresh, well packaged meals. I have ordered 4 times and I think I'll have to try somewhere else. This time ordered 4 different dishes plus two soups. Two entries were supposed to be hot and one was basic beef with broccoli, they all tasted so similarly and all three were way too sweet but none were sweet sauce (no orange chicken or anything like that). Just gross sticky sugar which isn't what should be with tofu (mapow should be chili not sweet) and black pepper chicken. Why would these taste alike!?!? It wasn't over greasy so that's good but just not tasty. We ate enough and just threw it out. Wish someone could tell me a great Chinese place nearby!
I just tried China Chef for my first time - I haven’t even finished my dinner and I felt pulled to come here and leave an excellent review. The food is incredible. Quality proteins, delicious sauces, fresh vegetables, incredible portions. It was ready when I arrived and still piping hot when I got home. This is the best Chinese food I may have ever had. Food is excellent and moderately priced. It is mostly carry out as they only have 2 booths. Hot and sour soup is divine. Food is just as goood as any high priced sit down Chinese Restaurant!
