J. Gilbert's Wood-Fired Steaks & Seafood Kansas City

Our server Andi was excellent. Great knowledge of menu and was smiling all night. Foot was excellent.

Decided to try some place new new to us. We live some distance from KC and like to try different upscale planes when in town. It's a nice looking place, wait staff is friendly. We decided to order cocktails since my fiancee couldn't decide on a wine. A mojito is a pretty simple drink, kinda hard to mess it up. The bartender at J Gilbert's found away. They used vodka, soda, lime and one leaf of mint. Worse drink for $16 I have had in recent history. Next they brought out our salads, simple ceasar salad for me. They made it very simple, barely any dressing and no croutons. On to the main course, the filet was great. Proper cook and very tender. Crab cake was the highlight of my meal. The other sides were great as well. My fiancee and I love creme burlee and order it often. Their version was average at best. The dessert had a clorox after taste, like they used poorly rinsed dessert dishes that weren't dry when they filled then. Quite frankly it was one of the worst $200 meals we have experienced in KC. Not a fan and won't be back.

J. Gilbert's was amazing! The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. Highly recommend for any special occasion.

Waitress goofed on a few things. Lobster brought without asp and potatoes. Brought spoons after eating half dessert. Kinda Off

Knowing it was for my birthday I wanted to go to a location where I knew the food would be fantastic, so worth the price one will pay will be so worth it! My steak was a mouth watering experience! Backed potato just right! Salad perfect! Thank you for such a great experience!

Food was outstanding as always and our server Meili was EXCELLENT. She is head and shoulders above all the others in her attention to detail. Meili does what it takes to ensure a perfect dining experience.

Service and food were excellent. It was a special evening to celebrate my husband's birthday. We left feeling like we had had a very special evening. Andi was a relatively new server but did a great job and had clearly had good training. Although we live 40 miles away, we can't wait to go back!

Waiter was friendly, but kept us hanging a little dry on drinks halfway through the meal. He must've gotten busy. I also thought desserts were comped for birthdays, but apparently not. Overall, for what we paid, I didn't think the service was that great. Host stand didn't seem very upbeat or inviting. Very dark inside.

Just a heads up if you haven't been to this place in a while: The food is still good, but the prefix menu has changed, and there are VERY limited desserts now. The service was not a good as it has been in the past either.

J. Gilbert's is still one of my favorite places to grab a steak in KC and is my go to when taking clients to dinner. Keep up the great work!

First time to eat here & most definitely will go back. Our waitress made the whole experience wonderful. Her name is Andy & she was outstanding in every way. I had the shrimp & my husband had a filet cooked to perfection! You must try this restaurant & ask for Andy!!

We were treated like royalty celebrating our anniversary with a complementary champagne toast. The steak and salmon were cooked to perfection. The server was attentive and complementary to our anniversary and birthday celebration.
