I've had Story twice. Once “to go” while living in KC during the pandemic, and the other time tonight, while visiting, in 2025. Salt was heavily featured on both occasions, to the point where my wife recalled how salty the to go meal was while sampling my extra salty halibut this evening. Atmosphere, ambiance and service are average to above average. Food along the same lines. Trying hard but just not in the upper echelon.
Fantastic experience for us and our friends dining on Friday night. All four of us are KC locals for many years but had never tried Story and were blown away. We loved the size of the restaurant and attention to detail. Then the food- simply delightful. From the starter salads to the main courses (the short rib was delicious, the salmon dish also received high praise) everything fantastic. Hands down best food in the KC metro. We shared homemade ravioli and Caesar salad. Then enjoyed short ribs and halibut. Topped it off with their stunning doughnut desert. Service was outstanding in every respect.
