I put the wrong delivery address on my DoorDash order and called the restaurant. I spoke with the manager who was extremely helpful and worked with me to get my order delivered to the correct address. I love this place for the food but now I’m a bigger fan for the staff. Thank you so much for getting my order to me.

Went today, stood in line for 10-15 minutes. No movement in the line, went to Zardas - line about the same length, ordered and got our food in 5 minutes. Probably won’t go back to Bates again…

After Derrick's response - you're right, we didn't try your food today, because it appeared it would take an hour (or more) to get it. We arrived just after 12 p.m. We were standing outside initially, and then some other customers told the group another line was available to folks who had ordered ahead, that allowed a lot of them to move to the other line. We then were able to move inside the door. While we were waiting, no orders were filled in our line and two were filled from the order ahead line. Were they being given priority? We have eaten there before but it has been several years since our last visit. Maybe our memories have faded - can't say, but obviously something kept us away... We have eaten several times at the Bates City site and never experienced a non-moving line there. More importantly telling someone to stick isn't an effective way to win customers back.

Be sure to express clearly what you are ordering. We went there today and ordered and got something we didn't order and the young lady at the register while friendly was not helpful in making it right. She just said that's what you ordered and that's what you get. Been a customer for over 10 years but getting charged $50 for something we didn't want or care for we won't be back. Customer service has been lost.

Home cut fries, fresh coleslaw and beans, and the most delicious ribs! They were tender, fall-off-the bone and full of KC bbq flavor. They're terrific on their own, but the sauce is second to none. I bought a bottle to bring home!
I didn't miss waiting in a forever line to get really good KC bbq - just had to jump the tracks a bit.

--the Thursday rib special, a full slab for $16! We ordered the standard fries and side of beans too, to compare to other BBQ joints. The slab falls off the bone, with a tender, smoky flavor and was more than enough for two adults for lunch with half a slab to take home. The fries are small straight cut, right into the frier for an iconic golden color and texture. No batter, plenty of salt and a nice size serving for $5. The beans are good! Bean lovers will appreciate the pieces of meat and green bell pepper cooked into them. The hottest sauce is spicy, peppery but not chemically, and not too hot as too distract from the flavor of the meat. Overall, the menu prices are fair, lower than Zarda's down the street, while the portions are larger and the food better quality.

Good atmosphere, the wet wipes packets are a welcome touch. Big proportions for the price. One order of fries is enough for two people. An interesting choice they make is to serve your meat slathered in sauce, I prefer to taste and then sauce accordingly. Burnt ends were fine. A good spot.

I had a carry out order. On Thursday all day the slab of ribs is their Special for $16.99.
They're ok, but I have tasted better at other restaurants! I was 5 minutes late after they closed (7pm) weekdays due to a big storm of rain. I called 5 minutes before closing to let them know what my situation was and the young lady that answered stated to come on, but they close at 7pm. When I arrived a male employee let me in and directed me to the counter. The young lady I just talked to were taking slabs out of the pit and repeating to me over and over that this was the only time that they were going to let me purchase after they close. She didn't have my order packaged and ready. I understood their policy and she repeated it to me 2 more times very loudly. I let her know that's why I called when I could drive safely to use my phone in the adverse weather conditions. I almost told her that I'm an adult and you made your point over the phone and she didn't have to tell me 4 times. She had another employee behind the counter ring me up. I won't recommend anyone nor will I patronize that business again!

Nice little hidden gem I've lived in JoCo for ever. The Sunday rib slab for $16 is beyond a bargain. So much meat! I'll be back for more.
