Had the Birria, Carnitas, Chicken, and Chorizo Tacos. Birria tacos definitely had the most flavor.Service wasn't bad, but not great.I'll be back for the Birria tacos and maybe try the burrito.

What a great little place hidden in plain sight! I believe we'll be regulars now, we will pass other Mexican restaurants to get here. Food is top notch, service is great, the restaurant is clean with fun and interesting decor. It's a little slice of Mexico here in Shawnee. It's a must!

This place is awesome! Definitely underrated. The guy at the counter was super friendly and even threw in little cups of their habanero sauce with the tamales I ordered. GO HERE ASAP. I'll definitely be back.

The best tacos I have ever had inside of Kansas City. Delicious salsa, perfectly marinated meats, soft tortillas that don't fall apart, and tamales that I'm sure must be someones grandmothers recipe. Don't waste your time anywhere else.
Vegetarian options: Not many listed veggie options, but the bean burrito is the only one I crave now. Super nice staff willing to accommodate where they can.

Amazing, I've came here twice now with my family. And these guys are very welcoming and accommodating! Their menu doesn't feature a kids item. But they whipped up a small quesadilla w/ rice and beans at a very fair price. And best of all the food is INCREDIBLE! Do yourself a favor and try this place. Definitely a hidden treasure, I'm so glad we discovered it. We'll definitely be returning.

We were really impressed by this unassuming hidden gem of a restaurant! You can taste the hand made care behind the food. It's way more authentic tasting than most competing places. Tacos were awesome with seasoned meats and fresh tortillas. Chorizo burrito was jammed full of flavor and a substantial size. Choice of a couple spicy sauces on top, and it doesn't get much better, certainly in the area. Don't forget the tamales! Yum. It's not super fancy inside and fairly small, but the food MORE than makes up for it. Fast friendly service too.

Stopped at Wild Birds for some bird seed and saw the sign in the window next door for "hand made tamales" at Juan Jose's Taqueria. Decided to get a dozen to take home. WOW!! Seriously, best tamales we've ever tasted. And the salsas they threw in were awesome. That orange salsa is packing some heat! Can't wait to go back and work our way through the menu.

My wife and I stopped by today when we found out Juan Jose's was open again. Same great food and the staff is excellent. Had tacos and pork tamales. Best lunch I've had in a while at a good price.
I got the carnitas tacos, which were incredible. I’m always looking for a good place to get authentic tacos, I’ll definitely be back.

The kind of hole in the wall local Mexican place you dream of finding. Not the cheapest ($9 for a regular taco plate) but it WILL fill you up. Quesabirria tacos were killer. Only like 6 tables and when we were here on a Saturday night only a couple were filled, but they deserve to be filled every night. I think they do a lot of takeout business, though.
