The food and service was great, amazing flavor. However, I distinctly remember having to pay a certain amount but days later I found out that I got billed a lot more than the original amount was and what’s even sketchier is that i did not get a receipt, which makes me think this was intentional. I left a cash tip too which disappoints me even more. I advice everyone to be careful, especially if you’re paying with card.

Authentic Mexican food, no joke!
This isn’t your usual Taco Bell or Jose Peppers drive-by. If you want to taste what REAL Mexican homemade food is like, this is where you need to be!
The menudo? Oh, it was *chef's kiss*! Sure, it didn’t have hominy, but trust me, I was too busy slurping it down to care. My husband got Combo #2, and we both left practically doing a happy dance, already planning our next visit!
And the prices? Ridiculously fair! You can literally taste the high-quality ingredients—so fresh it’s like they’ve got an abuela in the back hand-picking them. I mean, we walked in, and there was a lady in the kitchen meticulously plucking oregano stems... for your menudo a FREE garnish.
Oh, and the place is very clean! Floors, tables, chairs and even the decorations. Dusted and wiped.

Can't recommend this place enough! I have tried several things from their menu and specials board and everything has been INCREDIBLE! Atmosphere is awesome and the workers are very helpful and friendly. Anytime you are in Shawnee, I highly recommend stopping by and getting hooked up with some of the best food!

Popped in today for some takeout and had such a great experience. Very friendly staff and the steak taco combo was awesome! Usually the rice and beans are an afterthought but they were almost better than the tacos. Will definitely be back.
I just called to place an order for bananas with cream and they tell me they don't have them, then I tell them I want 2 pupusas and they tell me: I DON'T HAVE THEM TODAY, they don't have any, close this old restaurant already

Had the mole poblano and it was fabulous. Others had the beef stew and tacos and they loved their food too. I can’t wait to go back and try the pozole and other dishes. The chef was very friendly, explained any dish we asked about. All food is made from scratch and it’s one of the best restaurants in KC. A hidden gem

We stopped in this restaurant because we were in the mood for Mexican cuisine and it had great reviews. We were saddened to find out they do not serve traditional chips and salsa, but instead they have pinwheels chips (like funyuns) and hot sauce. Then upon reviewing the menu there weren't a whole lot of options for our kids. Most of the menu was steak or seafood options, and it was approx $15 per dish. In the end we left before we ordered food, so I cannot honestly review the foods taste. However, I can review that the bathrooms were not cleaned well, and the toilet gave us trouble. This restaurant seems to be enjoyed for its traditional Mexican and Salvadoran cuisine, but is not set up for families with children very well. I will say that the staff was very kind though.
