A local friend suggested the Philly cheese steak. I'm so grateful to him for that. Don't forget to add onions and peppers (jalapeño)! The onion rings and fried mushrooms were also delicious. Honestly, if we didn't know we were in Kansas, we could have sworn we were in northern Wisconsin. It felt like home.

My wife and I go to The Shack for their awesome burgers. We generally go over the noon hour, which is very busy, and Christy does an amazing job serving us, always prompt, pleasant and attentive to our needs.

So here's the deal with this place... You are going to turn onto a gravel driveway and see a sign that looks like it is missing most of it's letters.... Keep going.... You will pull up to what looks like a sketchy dive bar.... Keep going... You will sit down in what looks like a sketchy dive bar and your phone will lose service... You will question a lot of life choices that brought you here.... Then the waitress shows up and is super friendly and the burgers are awesome for the price. Big thick patties with lots of cheese. The fried pickles are cut like French fries and are really good as well. You can't eat this much food at McDonald's for this price, and there is beer here! This is the definition of a hidden gem dive bar. The regulars already know about this place, but most folks will be scared away.
