Unique and eclectic menu. The service is top notch. Our server was very friendly and helpful. She took the time to explain different menu items to us and make recommendations and was very attentive. The food was of very high quality and the menu offers just enough to have something for everyone's liking. I will definitely be back and highly recommend that you give it a try.

Limewater is a family-owned and -operated bistro and bar in Frankfort, Kentucky. We went here for lunch while on a bourbon tour and the food, ambiance, and service were all exceptional.
The name 'Limewater' is an ode to the Kentucky River as well as the limestone-rich soil that makes the Bluegrass Region so green.
Limewater is located in the historic Glen Willis house, which sits on the banks of the Kentucky River. The brick home was built in 1815 and the building itself is stunningly beautiful. Coming from California, where you often don't see brick buildings or really anything that it preserved to last, it was a stunning sight to see! This restaurant is also in an amazing location if you are doing a bourbon tour in the area as it is extremely close to both Buffalo Trace Distillery and J Mattingly Distillery.
We ate here for lunch, although this would be an amazing place for dinner as well. We love how this place was designed and decorated, which created such a beautiful setting to have lunch in.
The restaurant is owned and operated by husband and wife team, chef Axl and Isabelle Wheeler. I love that this is a locally owned restaurant and not a chain restaurant because I think that is one of the many things that makes this place so special!
Everything our group had, they loved. I had the Caprese Panini with mozzarella, tomato, basil, balsamic reduction, housemade ciabatta. It was absolutely delicious and the food was so fresh and flavorful. Two of the group had the 1815 {their version of an old fashioned} with brown butter-washed four roses bourbon, marmalade simple, angostura bitters, cherry and shared that it was delicious!
If you are in the Frankfort area, this is definitely a place that you have to check out! Highly recommend and look forward to coming back next time I am in the area!

Where to begin. Absolutely outstanding dining experience. The menu concentrated in elevated versions of classic favorites. My personal faves were the shrimp and grits, fritters, and the BLT sandwich. The signature cocktail, the 1815, was an outstanding use of the restaurantās signature butter-washed bourbon. I drank it to the lees, and hated to see it come to an end. One of the best craft cocktails I have ever had. We ate lunch on the porch, which was the perfect way to dine on a beautiful sunny afternoon. Our server, Emily, was the perfect professional. Attentive, friendly and knowledgeable, she really enhanced our experience. Do not miss out on this!
Emily, Emily , Emily!!!! she was amazing and the service food atmosphere and view was excellent. It was our pleasure to dine with you., And of course, Emilyš„°š„°

Incredible dining experience! š½āØ Limewater in Frankfort, Kentucky is absolutely beautiful⦠warm lighting, elegant dĆ©cor, and the perfect cozy-but-upscale vibe. Tonight, we celebrated my husbandās birthday, and everything was flawless from start to finish. ā¤ļø Now letās talk about the bread basket⦠OH. MY. GOODNESS. š„ Hands down the best sourdough Iāve ever had from a restaurant... fresh, flavorful, and worth the visit all by itself. I highly recommend starting your meal with it! Whether youāre celebrating something special or just want an unforgettable dinner⦠Limewater is a must! 10/10 š
Really cool location right on the river. This restaurant is in a converted house that is very nicely decorated. When I came with my sister, there was one lady who was handling waiting for all the tables as well as bringing food out as well as making drinks. Despite everything on her plate, she did a good job with Service and had a good attitude. I ordered the beef salad and the burger, both of which were delicious. Would definitely come back again.

A beautiful building that has been thoughtfully decorated for a nice dining experience. I had the salmon which was the diner special and it was absolutely amazing. Itās a good idea to make reservations. If youāre looking for a fancy setting Iād sit inside, and a more casual vibe I would suggest outdoor seating.

This lovely spot in Frankfort is in a beautifully decorated historic home - both the food and the service was spot on! We had the halibut (fantastic) and the cheddar fritters (delicious!) and the cocktails were excellent as well.
