We stopped by this place during a trip to Hazard. With Ponderosa not being a very common restaurant anymore we decided to stop and see if it was still as good as my wife and I remember. After dinner we agreed this was a great pit stop on our trip and plan on returning the next time we are in the area.

I love their salad bar. Almost anything you could want on a salad. I always order sirloin tips and a baked potato with the bar of coarse. If I don't get full on that they have a wide variety in their all you can eat hot food bar with ice cream, puddings and more for dessert.

Very mediocre at best... The chicken was the only meat worth eating. Many items on the bar were mixed together from people dropping their food.. Fairly high prices... Likely would've had a better meal at McDonald's for far less money
I went to the Hazard, Kentucky location this evening the food was completely disgusting there was old food on the bar. There was no vegetables on the salad bar and the manager apologized and gave us the free buffets. The thing is my family and I didn’t want free food we just wanted a good quality meal, however this is not what we got. We got meatloaf that had been sitting there for literally all day and burnt meatballs that had been sitting there so long they looked like dry dog food. Overall, this location needs shut down. The wait staff was great but the food was terrible. The past three times I had been there the food has been terrible; this has been months later as well. The time before tonight my brother got a steak that was grey. The manager assured us that it was cooked rare, however there was no blood in the steak whatsoever and looked old like it sitting in the freezer for months before it was prepared. This Ponderosa location needs reprimanded or shut down. This is insane. Please fix this.

By far the best restaurant in Hazard. I have eaten at every place in town several times and this place is heads above the rest. Best value for your dollar. Buffet is always fresh and has a great variety. Where else can you get meatloaf, fish, fried chicken, dumplings, and all the fixings for less than $10. The staff is super friendly and treat you like family, most of them call me by name and it makes me feel like I'm right at home. I highly recommend the chicken monterey.
