It is the second time I have been there and the place is really something special. I first saw it featured on ESPN’s True South and honestly it is worth the hour drive for me every time. The whole experience feels like stepping back into the 1960s. The town square has that classic Mayberry charm. The people are incredibly friendly and the restaurant itself has been family owned for nearly a century, now in its fourth generation.

I discovered this little hamburger joint on Instagram, and it reminded me of my small town in Iowa where I grew up. The service was great, and I felt like family when I walked in. This was not our first visit. This time, we visited during the Lincoln Days celebration. After 3 p.m., it was probably not as busy but they were dealing with a constant flow of customers.

Being only a small room with counter service, the inside was closed to customers and all orders were done at the walk up window. They did an excellent job of taking orders and getting food out in 15 minutes.

Today, they had extremely limited choices...
