OleHookers Bait and Tackle

Last night (10/10/2025) was my first night out on the town. I don’t drink alcohol, I just had water. Your bartender, gave me NO SHAME for being out at a gay bar and not drinking alcohol, which I am so thankful for. OleHookers is an AMAZING hole-in-the-wall gay bar, small, but a really great place. I will definitely be coming back.

I had not been to Ol' Hookers since 2020. Same owner, same bartender, new vibe - in a great way. The night I was there, several DJs were spinning and the whole place was dancing. I don't recall the atmosphere being that lively before. Drinks are strong and reasonably priced. Won't be another 5 years before I return for sure.

This was the first place I found to have a drink in Lexington after I moved there last year. I knew when I walked in that I had found my go-to place. I came for the karaoke on Mondays and for a drink that first Monday night last June. I haven’t missed many Mondays since. Joe is not just an amazing bartender, but a really awesome person and he’s got both wild stories and awesome skills! Rebecca runs karaoke like we’re all in her living room and she just wants us to have a wonderful time — an absolute consummate hostess. I’ve met some incredible people who’ve become dear friends and it’s why I love Mondays as much as I do! It’s a dive bar in definition, size and atmosphere. It’s the perfect size with amazing people at the helm and it always feels like you’re welcome. I cannot recommend it more.

I had never been here before and had to duck in to evade a guy that had catcalled and followed me for three blocks. Joe and Billy immediately stepped in and sent the guy on his way; they were super sweet and understanding. Joe grabbed me a water and Billy walked and chatted with me the rest of the way to my apartment. 10/10 service, I’ll be back to be an actual patron and leave a real review soon.

Personable, kind, and community-focused businesses are the backbone of Lexington. Bring your friends, spend your money at a place that cares.

I just moved here from New Orleans a month ago and the first place someone recommended for a fun karaoke night was Ole Hookers. I mean, the name alone was worth me checking it out. What I found was a slice of frickin’ Heaven! Do you like dive bars? ✅ Great drinks, cool bartenders and friendly people? ✅✅✅ The chillest karaoke vibe I think I’ve ever found? ✅ Honestly, I knew by the time I left that first night that I’d found my new fave place to hang out whenever… Being from NOLA, I tend to be particular about dive bars and Ole Hookers would hold its own with all my fave holes in the wall!

Let's see, it's a perfect place if you're a junkie! They decided to setup shop, monopolizing the bathrooms, waiting very long waits for the junkies to come out in threes??? Went to bathroom one time during the two hours I was there, had cocaine residue or meth residue on the furniture tops, was so afraid to touch anything due to the drug usage, first time there, will NEVER return back! They're a joke of an establishment, the bartender that was on duty was allowing the junkies to do their drugs as if it were a daily ritual. So she was either another junkie or profiting off the junkies! Do better Lexington! Sad display.... Wish I could give zero stars

Super friendly patrons and bartender! Joe was great! We are from out of town (Dayton OH) and were welcomed like family.

If you haven't experienced Ole Hookers you are missing out on meeting some of the best people in Lexington, Kentucky! From the owners to the bartenders and the regulars, you will feel extremely comfortable and welcomed. Hump Day Bingo, Karaoke, Happy Hour, just any occasion or no occasion at all. Make sure you have a cocktail or two in the best bar in town. Now that the weather has been getting warmer, you can sit outside and watch all of the downtown hustle and bustle while enjoying conversation and an adult beverage!

My aunt and I had stopped here on a roadtrip and had such a blast! Drinks were cheap, the people were friendly, the atmosphere was fun. We loved our bartender, Gary and we were sad to miss him when we passed through again a year later. This little bar will remain on our list of places to stop when passing through!
