el Nopal

This El Nopal is terrible compared to the one on Hikes Ln. I ordered a quesadilla and there was barely any cheese on it. I had to add my own. It also just tasted bland.

I gave five stars for atmosphere because the place is wonderfully decorated, so much color, so much of the culture on exhibit, and it's everywhere. It's unfortunate not all El Nopal's are decorated so nice. Some of them look like the cafeteria at the elementary school,....i.e.: HP, Blnknbaker, ...., anyway, the only thing that would have made this six stars would be a mariachi band. The service received four stars - while everyone was professional and attentive the language barrier sometimes interferes with getting the order correct - for instance, vegetables instead of rice as the side... And then giving the change request to someone who never got that communicated to the right people. Other than that, wonderful people and very nice. The food was of generous portions, well prepared, great flavor, HOWEVER, my chicken breast had been flattened to the point that it was very very tough lacked moisture and was difficult to even chew. A chicken breast should be plump juicy full of flavor and easy to cut through. Everything else at our table was prepared well and delicious to all. When shopping at the Mall St. Matthews, definitely consider this place for a margarita cold beer your choice of cocktails and some good to great Mexican food. Good job you guys thank you, we'll be back.

ate there one Saturday in August for lunch place had a few customers ...ordered Burrito Grande ..the beef one was okay but the chicken was dry and tasteless and the queso sauce seemed to be watered down. we also order soft steak taco...the meat looked burnt and old ..... this place is hit or miss.

Food was cold and bland, which was strange considering there was absolutely no one in the restaurant. I’ve had food at other el nopal locations which was good, so I’m not sure what’s up with this one. Service was quick and fine, but I can not stress enough that the food was bad. Avoid at all costs you’re better off eating at the chains in the food court.

Seems the white cheese on the tacos and in the cheese quesadilla have changed & is terrible. Taco cheese was not even finely shredded. Used to be thick. Quesadilla cheese was stretchy (like melted swiss cheese). Not soft & creamy. Won't eat here again. Used to be my favorite place. They ruined it or me.

Wonderful dinner here to celebrate my birthday. The food is amazing, staff are very friendly and atmosphere is pleasant. I'm picky about my Mexican rice and theirs is by far my favorite!

Food was phenomenal but the server we had avoided the table like we had the plague and was very rude. Intentionally and repeatedly misgendered a member of our table and constantly stared at her from across the restaurant but couldn't even bring more salsa or sweetener for tea despite being asked multiple times, really put down the whole experience. Westport Road location has the same food with significantly better service.
